I want a consumer-grade wireless headset that has the latency of my Rode Wireless Pro microphones. I don't know what the latency actually is (it's a digital link) but it can't be more than 1 or 2 ms. Give me something like the Sennheiser RS-185 with that kind of latency, or, even better, a receiver/transmitter type thing for which any generic 3.5mm output can be used, which is both digital and extremely low latency like that, and also doesn't compromise on audio quality, and I'll be happy.
I specifically mentioned consumer-grade here, because there are high-end wireless IEM systems that do exactly this, but certainly not in the consumer space, at least not that I can find.
Edit: I found something online that says the Rode Wireless Pro latency is 6 to 7 MS. So maybe I'm a bit off. Still, though, it's basically undetectable by just listening, unless you purposefully feed the microphone back to a nearby speaker or something.
NOt sure if this is fully consumer-grade, but htis is the closets you get while being actually good. The latency is most definitely under 20ms - 16ms if I'm not mistaken. Nearly identical to the Rodes. Fidelity is not at all bad fir wireless. It's odd to think that, as low as the latency is, it's still longer than it normally takes for a 32 byte ICMP packet to come back to my ISP from my New Jersey Linodes.
Under 20ms is when it enters the imperceivable/barely perceivable phase. 30ms is, well. Quite perceivable by comparison. decent, but not enough to trust anything time-critical to it.

sounds like it's close but not quite there. I'm not sure, if you paid someone, they should do the full work you agreed to pay for, that is, if it means getting it running, it means getting it running. oh this is great progress! The pitch thing should be relatively easy since volume and rate work well. It works for me, but after about 3 minutes of feeding it audio it starts too really static up bad and then crashes. (I also first messed with the volume slider a bit.) Held down the tab key on taskBar, went to Google News, but then halfway through it began to produce a static that got louder and eventually speech stopped. @TheQuinbox @samtupy @AlexSpectrum93 @datajake1999
so far, seems to be working good. no more static. still waiting on the github source code, and ability to change pitch of current voice. this cost me $200 for you all just to let you know. was glad to pay the money though, worth it!
@gozaltech oh, huge thanks for working on it, I might donate to this project too if the Sapi5 gets in really good shape. For pitch it was tricky, you had to do a Freq conversion to get it. the ~f prefix is sent to the engine with the frequency. In the NVDA Driver, we had to ratio = ringVal / 100.00and then return int(round(FREQ_MIN + ratio * (FREQ_MAX - FREQ_MIN))). @esoteric_programmer Keynote Gold, yes. You got it right. Effectively an earlier version for X86, made around 1996, augmented with a wrapper that allowed speech rates to go faster (Sonic) and in this case also wrapped into a Sapi5 engine. @esoteric_programmer Oh yeah, I do think so. At least I doubt it would have any API calls it can't emulate, especially as it looks like Valve uses this for SteamDecks and such. It's for sure the other upside to a SAPI5 port, it becomes way more possible to translate it into other platforms. Now if there was a thing that let us push SAPI5 voices into Speech Dispatcher itself somehow, we would truly have a Keynote voice even for Linux. Wow, this is such awesome progress. I do wonder if we will need the audio filter, I'm noticing at faster rates the speech on Sapi5 version cracks more, like a hormonal teenager going through changes, his voice has cracks in speech whereas the NVDA add-on at boosted rates only has slight cracks from time to time. Sapi5 really does this after rate 70 (NVDA). @gozaltech it sounds like sapi5 bestSpeech is using sonic rate boost by default to control the speech rate, at least to me it does. If sonic were removed and speech rate were controlled directly, bestSpeech would not sound like that when you speed it up.
Unfortunately I think this is the Wrapper already using Sonic? Pretty sure of that, since I know the default rate in Bestspeech stops around 60 or so. Once you are at 65 that Sonic library kicks in fully. I'm just not sure why it would sound more harsh going over SAPI5 VS NVDA's Wasapi. @gozaltech @TheQuinbox @samtupy @AlexSpectrum93 @datajake1999
I am using sonic, 0.5-60 scaled. I am not using wrapper as is, i rewrote some parts to eliminate possible buffer overflows and added latest sonic from the master branch. I will open-source project at the end of this week, i hope, and you will be able to contribute if you'd like.

Unfortunately there's a new fun bug in Chrome that makes my screen reader repeat "cannot be downloaded securely alert," over and over again until I manage to cut through the noise and select the "download insecurely" option. The Chrome thing is not your fault, but an HTTPS certificate would be helpful (and free) if it isn't too much trouble.
If that isn't doable, no worries. I can presumably just curl them down instead.

I don't hate Apple Music. I just prefer Spotify. I don't need Dolby Audio to enjoy my music. Sure it makes it a different experience, but I can sacrifice that. Plus, Spotify's been around way longer. Sure the UI isn't the best, but the web client is where it's at if you are not using it on a mobile device. It's also more streamlined in how they handle their artists. They bring you your stats, fans, playlists, etc, all in front of you, something I feel Apple Music lacks in that area.

@dhamlinmusic @jonathan859 We haven't got a solid plan for it yet, but we know that eaiser transfer of settings between machines is something users DO want. Obviously we've seen developments from other AT vendors & the response to those.... which gives us some ideas of what users DON'T want.... - though even if we went for an account option, it would be opt-in, not mandatory, and the code would all be open, so there's that - but no, we haven't started working on anything at this time.
