Fabrizia Benini (@EUCommission) starts off the new panel by explaining her work on the Open Digital Ecosystems Strategy. "The main objective is to foster the growth of open source communities in Europe, as they are fundamental in fostering tech sovereignty in Europe."
Responding to a rise in MadeInEurope narratives, Baddy Breidert points to the global cooperation that builds open source: āOpen source shouldnāt have to choose its home, we are all involved in open source projects!ā European open source companies, like Drupal, shine thanks to a vibrant international community.
Deborah Bryant of @opensource reflects on key lessons from the open source movement. She suggests avoiding the creation of new, less open licenses that may restrict the important qualities of openness.
Code and financial contributions of private companies are a critical backbone of the open source community, while companies benefit substantially from fostering a culture of participation among their employees.
In her final remarks, @suehle of @TheASF emphasises collaboration as a key driver of open source. It both builds and relies on collaboration across companies, communities and geopolitical borders.
"There is no borders in an open source project!" @bagder encourages focus on the sustainability of open source products, beyond technical specifications and borders.

It turns out that there are a lot of anti-Semitic and Islamist people hanging around there, and some hateful, anti-Semitic texts have already been deleted. Somehow, it was clear to me that various artists, for example from Bluesky, can now be found there.
I think it would be cool to have a server for Jewish artists. Everywhere you go as an artist, you encounter boycott, exclusion and hostility. You have to constantly justify yourself. People who give commissions tend towards zero because they don't want to be associated with you as an artist.

Today's project: figuring out the legistics of having the SFP wall jack for the fiber ISP moved to the other side of the house. When I had it installed where it is in late 2017, it made sense to put it there. Now, not so much.

Da mein Speicherverbrauch aber immer nur zwischen 200 und 300MB oszilliert, hatte ich Ć¼berlegt, auf Revolutionary downzugraden.
Ich hab gesehen, dass z.B. beim Switch auf einen Free-Plan auch alle importierten Mails aus dem Postfach gelƶscht werden. WĆ¼rde das beim Wechsel auf Revolutionary auch passieren? Da gibt's den Import ja (noch) nicht.
It seems like the era of DNS-based adblocking is over.
All the streaming & video sites work around or punitively block it. Recipe and news sites do the same. And because it was always a side channel, thereās no escalation for DNS-based systems to get on top again. The information is no longer being provided by the use of specific domains anymore (or their being null routed is easily detected).
This means active browser Adblocking is basically the only pub left in town.
This means commercial app environments like on phones and TVs are getting pretty hard to avoid ads in.
@BorrisInABox Is there any change or news that I've missed? I'm using DNS add blocking and it works relatively all right, for example I can block most of the adds I get in apps or games on Android etc.
Yesterday, I got a Korg Monotron Delay. If anything can be said to be a synth fidget toy, that might be it, or at least a good start.
Gotta say, though, it's really, really noisy, which might actually be by design, at least in part, and very unshielded. It was picking up a bunch of digital hash from something which came and went as I moved it around. Turns out, it was my Airpods Pro.
It appears that the delay on the Monotron Delay is wired out-of-phase. So, when there is feedback, it goes "in-phase, out-of-phase" with each cycle. This creates an interesting effect.
To put it in words, instead of going "duh duh duh duh duh", it kind of goes "duh dih duh dih duh". The color of the sound is obviously different every other cycle.
Also, for no reason at all, I picture some high profile Japanese executive pulling this little Monotron out of their pocket and blasting the conference room with bad noises when meetings get boring, and nobody can say anything about it because they're the boss.
Yep. Oh btw in case you didn't know, if yours has a random screw on the back where the volume wheel is, that's for adjusting the oscillator range. Also Korg encourage folk to open them up and tinker round with the circuitry. They've published schematics on their website. I don't have the first clue how to do that but I think it's awesome they've allowed it.
Ah. I assumed it would be the same. Mine comes set to a reasonable pitch range so you can sort of play tunes on it but then you can set it to go ridiculous.
I created an account while on VPN and was told they needed to manually approve my account because people try to abuse their system using VPN.
Totally understand that. I was patient. Days later they denied me. Not with a notification, but by simply closing the account. Never even got to use it.

Why the developers of this Mac specific tool decided to put their documentation into an epub file when as it is currently there is no great way to read these efficiently on Mac is beyond me.
