The idea of Matrix as a chat service is nice. But the fact that it keeps going out of sync, and I keep losing messages from other people is just plain annoying. This is worse than IRC net split (at least there was a message when it happened).

Officially going to ditch my Matrix account thanks to the poor accessibility experience with the Element X mobile app and the Element web app… neither of these options play nicely with screen readers in their current form, and my level of frustration has reached its breaking point. I’ll be removing all links to my Matrix account from my website in the near future, but all other links to my social media and messaging apps are still valid. Basically, accessibility is my primary roadblock using more apps on the Fediverse as it seems most of them, don’t take accessibility for screen reader users into account in their design, or if they do, it’s not a serious commitment. #A11Y #Accessibility #Fediverse #Matrix #ElementX #ElementWeb

I'm on #GrapheneOS without MicroG or anything Google at all, so I use UnifiedPush to get notifications from #Fedilab, #Element and #ElementX (and something else I've forgotten LOL).

I set up family members with Element using UnifiedPush as, although they have Play Services, I prefer not to give Google (or by extension Trump atm) metadata about who my family talks to and when.

I only wish @nextcloud , @PixelFed , @loops etc. would get on board!

#ElementX nutze ich schon länger parallel zu #Element für meine Chats.

Nun habe ich aber das neue #SchildiChat Next ausprobiert.

Es basiert auch auf ElementX, hat aber #Spaces integriert. Das gefällt mir sehr gut. Damit lassen sich z.B. Chaträume übersichtlich ordnen.

#Matrix ist für mich nach wie vor ne gute Sache. Ich würde es auch WhatsApp-Wechslern eher empfehlen als #Signal ... vor allem auch, weil man sich damit nicht vom Smartphone abhängig macht.

Ganz praktisch ging es z.B. um #GNUTaler, /e/OS, digitales in Kirchengemeinden, #Grist, #Matrix und Bots, #DeltaChat, #ElementX und die Server-Admin bei @hostsharing@geno.social

Die Location war ünrigens einzigartig ;-)

I've been using Unified Push + Element + Fedilab via Nextcloud and NextPush and it's been remarkably simple and reliable while keeping all that sweet, sweet metadata out of the Goog's hungry clutches. Thank you!

Sadly i do not get any push-notification at the moment. (so i use the legacy @element and there forks #SchildiChat for multi-account)

@Archos :distros_arch: :matrix: Možno jazyková bariéra, ale tu sa mi zdá trošku nešťastný preklad do češtiny a slovenčiny. Embedded voip / vstavaný voip v tomto prípade v skutočnosti znamená, že aplikácia #ElementX obsahuje webview, a v tomto webview zobrazuje skupinové hovory z call.element.io/ . Adresu inštancie element call je možné zmeniť v nastaveniach. Element call používa oddelenú inštanciu matrix servera od matrix účtu, s ktorým sme prihlásení. Na jednej strane je to dobré, pretože v histórii miestnosti na serveri bude len informácia o tom že audio / video hovor sa uskutočnil alebo že bol zmeškaný, ale samotné udalosti spojené s prevádzkou toho hovoru už budú na element call. Tiež si viem predstaviť, že ak by sme chceli zachovať decentralizovaný návrh matrixu, bolo by fajn prevádzkovať aj vlastnú inštanciu Element Call.
Pôvodný Element týmto spôsobom poskytoval konferenčné audio / video hovory cez zabudovaný Jitsi Meet, ElementX to robí cez zabudovaný Element Call. Problém je, že ak ja používam ElementX a ty Element, spolu si žiaľ nezavoláme, aspoň zatiaľ nie.
