So now I have accounts on all these various social and quasi-social and para-social networks.

One thing I notice is that with all the major platforms, there are many users cheerleading that platform. Go Fediverse! Yay Spoutible! Woohoo Bluesky!

EXCEPT Twitter. Literally no one is on Twitter cheerleading it. There are people hunkering down grimly to defend their territory from harassment, but no one there is cheerleading or promoting it.

Petition against the #tiktok ban. I will say, I actively use TikTok in the college classroom. It’s an important pedagogical tool and as a profession we should oppose this ban. Regulate *all* #socialmedia companies, instead of targeting a single app that has been a vehicle of progressive political education and organizing—and especially because a lot of the rhetoric around the ban stems from American #Sinophobia.

Something that has bothered me for a while... A lot of people use LinkTree for creating a profile with all their #socialmedia #links... The problem is #LinkTree is a data harvesting / tracker site.

Thankfully @eposvox pointed out another service to me (via his profile) today: bio.link/ - it's a free to use alternative, that doesn't track personal info beyond click throughs (no IP, no cookie, etc.)

It's from the Buy-Me-A-Coffee folks and looks really really good.

My goal is to produce #SVG images that respect dark mode, can be easily styled with CSS, and also allow either circle, square or no background.

Look, kids are curious and need social status, hence they will get on #socialmedia sooner or later, so will age requirements make them understand what they're getting into? But I do agree on building a platform better suited for kids... Maybe have supervised clubs at schools running #ActivityPub instances in closed federations (connecting nearby schools)?
