Dear @thunderbird people ... when viewing my email, I want to be able to hover over a link (1) to figure out if it's obviously dodgy .... please can you make the real url appear in a large font - perhaps as an on hover bubble or something - rather than putting it in small text in the bottom of the window (2) where various other status updates go (and overwrite it), making it hard to see.

One of these Pi5 16 GB boards had some weird defects with it - in particular, I had to flash the EEProm image at (github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-eep…) - Early 16 GB units shipped with an EEPROM that set SDRAM refresh too low. They booted once, updated, then sometimes refused to start until the next firmware drop. Updating to the February 2025 EEPROM (or newer) fixes this. Good gosh. But guess what! I updated that EEProm, and then, the fan connector wouldn't spin up any fan. I even changed over a fan from a working Pi to test it with, nope nope. Somethin' was up with that board so it's going back. However, if you experience similar issues when setting up a Pi5, take note. Especially on 16 GB units. the "won’t-boot-after-update" bug really was a 16 GB-only problem.
4 GB / 8 GB (and the later 2 GB) Pi 5s never had the under-refresh crash; they only got a performance-boost when the same EEPROM tunings were back-ported to them. So this one's goin' back with UPS, bye bye bad board, hope you get fixed soon.

Since I've read a few news stories on this and none of them linked to the actual fucking report: the US Coast Guard has just released a hefty (335 pages!) investigation report into the June 2023 OceanGate Titan implosion.

The board determined the primary contributing factors were OceanGate’s inadequate design, certification, maintenance and inspection process for the Titan. Other factors cited in the report include a toxic workplace culture at OceanGate, an inadequate domestic and international regulatory framework for submersible operations and vessels of novel design, and an ineffective whistleblower process under the Seaman’s Protection Act.

I see. This seems to be what everyone expects. However it is backwards, it lets you use the XMPP server as an IdP for signing into XMPP without the client application seeing passwords.

There is however overlap with the SSO against an existing IdP use case and that is also possible, with different configuration, if with more friction due to how existing OAuth2 things tend require that application developers register their application ahead of time.

The F-Droid build is sadly delayed due to issues on their side (outdated tooling meaning they can't currently support AGP 8.12). Hopefully they fix that soon.

F-Droid users who want the update now are recommended to switch to IzzyOnDroid. It's the same 100% FOSS build. You can use Catima's built-in exporter to backup and restore your data.

And you can be affirmed it's the very same FOSS build, as at IzzyOnDroid it is a Reproducible Build – meaning, our builders built the APK from Sylvia's code, and ended up with a byte-by-byte identical APK.

Bonus points: updates usually reach you within 24h of Sylvia making them available. Our build cycles are pretty short: just a few hours, instead of a few days 😉

Ich würde mir wünschen, dass noch vieeel mehr Entwickler sich deiner Idee anschließen und so deren APK's bei dir/euch zu finden sind.

Das Gute ist, meine wichtigsten Kandidaten sind schon bei dir vertreten – FairEmail, Catima, NeoStore, KeePassDx, Aegis, ...)
Für mich fehlt nur noch OpenKeyChain, NetGuard und Fennec. 😉

@Bodo Nicht ganz; spätestens beim Auszahlen fällt da (je nach Finanzanbieter) eine kleine Gebühr an – also nicht bei unserem "Fiscal Host", sondern beispielsweise bei Wise, Stripe, oder was auch immer für die Auszahlung genutzt wird. Dafür sind dann aber auch alle Einnahmen und Ausgaben transparent – was bei einem reinen Bankkonto so nicht möglich ist.

Aber ja, ich muss wirklich langsam schauen, den Bankumzug über die Bühne zu bringen. Ist so kein Zustand mehr.

V2 #deltachat is rolling out after weeks of internal testing, a major milestone revising how end-to-end encryption works and bringing more beautiful contact and group profiles, direct access to chat-shared apps in the title bar and a "new email" action with setting a subject for those using a classic server.

To people crying socialism, this is not something the government has decided. It's been negotiated between McDonald's Denmark and the workers' union.
To everyone whining abt taxes: In Scandinavia (and the EU), nobody needs to work two or three jobs or > 40 hours a week. People earn a decent living from that 1 job. People can afford rent and food, daycare is cheap and you don't need to pay for healthcare.
That McDonald's worker is not working poor, she doesn't need food stamps or a second job.
