Firefox can no longer be classed as a privacy browser, thanks to their new Terms of Use policy... as many think it'll grant them the rights to use your data to train AI, in the future!
A legal solution, but I see a technical problem too: There can never be a new browser engine now. Almost every browser around is based on Chromium, and there are only three engines existing that are usable today. It's impossible to make a new one because the web browser, just to run the modern web, is usually the most complicated program on the computer aside from the OS itself. In many regards the browser is a mini-OS.

Have made my first ever experience with the package pickup stations of the Austrian post last weekend. They have been made accessible to the blind. The procedure is as follows: 1. You receive a physical notification about a package being dropped off at a station in your mailbox. 2. The notification has one of its corners cut off to make a tactile difference. This way you can tell where the code you need to scan is located. 3. You go to the pickup station. The tactile flooring inside will guide you to the stations. 4. You touch anywhere on the touch screen of the station. 5. You touch again, this time the area above a circle shape that can be touched on a strip below the screen itself. 6. The voice guide is activated and issues further instructions. 7. You place the code on your notification in front of the reader. 8. Assuming it has been scanned correctly, you proceed to signing the delivery confirmation on the touch screen. How you can do it without seeing the screen is still a mystery to me but I guess anything you draw is accepted by the system. 9. The locker opens and makes a ticking sound until you find it, remove your package and shut the door. I still find the way of opening it with a mobile app that some providers in other countries offer far easier but it's great those are ready for use even if you don't want or can't use a smartphone. #Accessibility #Blind

If you have a rough idea and serve modern clients, tlsserver cuts some bytes and the auth process is tighter.
A profile is a collection of characteristics that describe both the validation process required to get a certificate, and the final contents of that certificate.

Traveling as a trans person is already hard enough. The Trump administration is making it even harder. As part of their campaign of hate, they’re deliberately misgendering trans people on their passports, insisting on what was assigned at birth rather than the truth they now live.
Look, gender markers on government identification are bullshit. Fun fact: gender markers were only added to passports in the 1970s. We could do without them, and in fact, we have! But if we’re gonna have them, by the Goddess, they shouldn’t be weaponized by willfully ignorant bigots.

Hi guys, I started teaching a couple of people how to program/create games in NVGT. These classes have been going on for over 2 months, and I really enjoy teaching them! I decided to make it generally available for those interested. You get a 1 hour free assessment/trial lesson. After that, individual 1 hour lessons are $21.50 and 2 hour lessons are $37.50. I work full time, so unfortunately timeslots are somewhat limited for now, but they are available. In case you're wondering, my full-time job is AT instruction, and I've been doing it professionally for over 3.5 years. Today I learned: If you use #Chrome and are annoyed by those "Sign in with Google" dialogs stealing keyboard focus on certain websites, you can disable it at the browser level.
In the address bar, type or paste in "chrome://settings/content/federatedIdentityApi" (without the quotes. You should land on the "Third-party sign-in" Settings page.
On that page, there'll be two radio buttons: "Sites can show sign-in prompts from identity services", and "Block sign-in prompts from identity services". Set it to the second one, and you should find that the problematic dialogs are no longer present.
@clv0 Yeah, it was not automatic, I had to set up some filter (or rule or whatever it's called) for this.
I can't remember exactly what I clicked on to set it up (lots of brain fog and memory problems!) but it works. I've seen others post about this solution, too.
@clv0 @ahimsa_pdx I *think* this should be blocked by one of AdGuard or Easylist Annoyances blocklist (i.e. both should work). I no longer see those banners at least.
