Mozilla's Mike Conley joins us to discuss the nostalgia of the early internet, his first task for Thunderbird, and some great Firefox featuresJason Evangelho (The Thunderbird Blog)
"We need people fighting for Firefox"
I agree. Firefox has been my default browser since a loooong time. The current situation is very problematic in the medium-long term, and has potential to be worse than the "IE6" times, because Google is (and has been for ages) actually an Ads company.
If not directly, somehow help keep Firefox alive.
Welcome back to the ThunderCast: Episode 2 is READY!
We welcome special #Mozilla guest @mconley, a software mechanic, musician, livestreamer, and self-described “pre-internet phenomenon” among many other awesome things.
Join us for a great conversation full of nostalgia, a behind-the-scenes look at some great Firefox features, and much more!

If you love the #Firefox Translations add-on as much as we do and find yourself thinking "this should REALLY come to Thunderbird," then this bug is worth keeping an eye on:

In fact, I learnt a lot about how #Thunderbird and @mozilla are actually related, and I always thought it's a hardwired #Mozilla product just like #Firefox.
I'm really looking forward to the improvements in Supernova and also future updates to #K9Mail. I used to be a #GMail user but ran into performance problems on older devices and under bad networking conditions. Not a problem for good old #IMAP! :)
#Chromium landed support for fractional scaling on #Wayland a couple of days ago. It was reverted again today. Reason for revert: This change completely broke Chromium Ozone/Wayland on compositors that support fractional-scale-v1.
Nobody had ever tested it and the authors missed the whole actual scaling part with wp_viewporter.
Anyhow, here's a working initial patch for #Firefox:

I've just run into another CPU bug affecting #Firefox so this is a good occasion to show you how one looks like and how I identify it. CPU bugs have always been a fact of life but they've become more common as CPUs have become more complex.
But let's begin from the start, the bug in question is a crash: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.… 🧵 1/5

Wow, so the other day I shared what #Microsoft does when you search to download #Firefox from #Edge* but they go one step further for #Chrome.
(I have zero love for either surveillance capitalist but, my goodness, what absolute asshattery. Having spent more time than I’d like testing in #Windows these past two days, I constantly feel like some malevolent entity is trying to exploit me at every turn. Because one is. This OS is a case study in hostile #design.)

Here's a very early implementation of #Firefox Sync running in Thunderbird Daily!
The bones are there and the foundation is solid.
Though it may be called something else by the time we launch it in Thunderbird 115 (such as Thunderbird Sync or #Mozilla Sync), it's a feature we're THRILLED about putting in your hands.
I’m not going to use bloody bugzilla, so if anyone from Mozilla sees this, your enterprise flow for adding certificate authorities (CAs) to Firefox on Linux fails on Fedora Silverblue.
Since Fedora Silverblue is seen as the possible future of Fedora/Red Hat, you folks might want to talk to the Fedora folks about it and come up with a solution.

To all #blind #ScreenReader users on various platforms who use #Firefox: The project to speed up web page and screen reader interaction, code-named Cache-The-World, is now at a phase where in Nightly 109, it has been enabled for all users. So if you spot anything that is unusual or not working as before, please let the #accessibility team know. Next step is an experiment for 50% roll-out on Windows in the 111 beta.
