checking #deltachat #iOS 1.44.1 before starting a testflight. no good camera left to take the photo :)

the update comes with quite some long awaited UI fixes - and PUSH notifications got a preview now

Once upon ...

While #DeltaChat #Android paved the way for reactions, #iOS and #Desktop did not stand back with awe!
But ran ahead!
Adding tons more possible reactions than poor #Android that could react with 👍👎❤️😂 or 🙁 only! Mostly with 🙁 :)

... but now #DeltaChat #Android catches up, allowing all the things as well :)

Yep, cool feature! Try it out when you get it! #accessibility #andorid #ios #google androiddev.social/@MishaalRahm…

4) Last October, Google launched Lens in Maps (formerly Search with Live View). This feature uses AI and augmented reality to help you find information about nearby stores. Now, this feature has been upgraded with screen reader support, so you can point your phone’s camera at your surroundings and have TalkBack read the place’s information out loud.

This screenshot shows the app analytics data sent by two different #iOS apps: Duolingo and Tinder. What's the likelihood that both apps are installed on the same device? 💯? 🤯

Both apps use Unity Ads. The data in the screenshot is collected by the Unity Ads framework included in these two apps, and any app that uses Unity Ads. The data is sent to the same Unity server. As a result, Unity Ads can easily fingerprint users and track them across different apps.

There will be F-Droid for #iOS as soon as #Apple releases a #FreeSoftware version of it. F-Droid supports free software platforms. That said, F-Droid also provides all tools needed to run an #AppStore, so we welcome the use of our stack to run an app store on other platforms. There has even been externally funded contributions towards making fdroid-based app stores for iOS and a Flutter app that can be built for iOS:

I've long believed that all apps (at least on Android) should start supporting UnifiedPush[1]. Tools like ntfy could serve as a central hub for notification distribution, allowing anyone to have their own notification server to connect apps and mobile devices. This would ensure greater privacy.
This is also why I developed NotiMail: we shouldn't have to rely on the 'big players' for our notifications and data.

▶️ $17.44 ◀️ That’s the average donation to Thunderbird so far in 2023. A gift roughly the price of a pizza helps provide jobs. It helps us bring Thunderbird to iOS and Android even faster. It helps us develop new features. It substantially improves our sustainability.

🚨Warnings from Sen. Ron Wyden reveal that governments around the world are #spying on #Google and #Apple push notifications. 🕵

Tuta introduced our own custom push notification system for #Android devices which are fully encrypted and #surveillance resistant. We include minimal information in #iOS push notifications to counter this threat.🔒

Surveillance requests should be transparently disclosed by Apple and Google, not silenced by a gag-order! 🤐

@Charles ☭ H @modulux Frankly push notifications at least on #IOS and #Android are here for years. Apps such as messengers, social networking apps, traditionally banking apps, insurance companies, postal and transport services, delivery services, taxis, schools, shops and outlets, even some news apps have always used push notifications. Mobile operating systems are activelly dissalowing these apps to run on the background for extended period of time in order to prolong the device's battery life. Then the app vendors can leverage the platform's push notification systems to literally woke their apps from so called deep sleep in order to fetch the latest updates and generate a notification. And they are really doing it. It's a typical scenario. Monitoring ones push notifications state agencies can gather plenty of data about an individual such as what apps and services they are using, they daily routines, depending on the apps their social circles and similar.

🎯 Minimalizoval jsem vsecky side-effekty, ktere by service-worker mohl mit a neco mi v apce rozbijet. Celkove jsem dosahl rozumneho kodu.

Velka PWA bariera padla i na iOS 🍾

#ios #nextjs #android

Apple letos po letech tvrde blokady zavedl standardni system web notifikaci v PWA. Teoreticky.

Naimplementuju service-worker. API Push Notifickaci. Server. Vyzkousim to v Chromu (Safari neumoznuje localhost testy). Vsecko funguje. Zkousim to jeste lokalne ve standlone appce v Android emulatoru. Vsecko funguje.

Pushnu. A na iPhone nic. Hrabu se kodem. Zkousim to vicekrat. A nic.

Propojim iPhone s Macem. Otevru service-worker konzoli v Safari. A najednou to FUNGUJE! 🤬

The nine months of waiting have paid off. We now have a fully accessible Hacker News client, complete with one flick per post/comment, rotor actions and somewhere down the line, three-finger swipes planned or already implemented. The app also offers the ability to compose posts, comment on threads, search for old stories and browse all of the HN's categories. So far, Octal is the best experience I've had accessing Hacker News.

:boost_requested: A call to all app developers! :boost_requested:

We want your help! While there is an official Calckey client in the works, we'd love to see more third party clients for Calckey start to be worked on! That's why we're putting out a $200 bounty for either an original Calckey app on your mobile platform of choice, or a $150 bounty adding Calckey support to your existing app.

There are some guidelines though:

- Uses the Calckey/Misskey API (calckey.social/api-doc), and implements basic features (including all timelines, quotes, reacts, explore, notifications, chats, bookmarks, channels, antennas/lists).

- Written in a language that compiles for your platform of choice (Kotlin/Java for Android, Swift for iOS. No React Native/Capacitor. Flutter is a maybe).

- Follows modern design guidelines for your platform of choice.

- Submitted to an App Store (Play Store or App Store. F-Droid is a bonus!) If you don't have a developer license, we'll also cover the cost of that.

- If you're adding support for an existing app, it must have at least 10,000 downloads.

DM this account if you're interested!
