There is no Ublock Origin on the Thunderbird store, even though it and also the permissionless version work!

Firefox Translate will be huge, looking forward to that!

But whats also really bad is, that Thunderbird Conversations is broken (afaik) and there is no replacement, so having the thread just display below each other, including your replies

- ublock preinstalled with *.zip and *.mov blacklist, as well as malware. Ads are irrelevant as you should just use
- sanitized HTML by default
- no javascript at all
- block all trackers
- install signature checker addon (forgot the name)
- reduce information your browser sends
- deactivate all unnecessary features, its a Mailclient based on a Browser, I am sure thats possible

The “industry standard” modules used in digital braille displays are custom piezoelectric devices, costing around $100 per “letter,” making such displays impractically expensive for most applications.

I just learned about this hackaday prize winner, who has designed digital, refreshable #braille modules that cost less than $1 each, using teeny-tiny magnets and 3D printed parts.

Turns out the most important skills in the long run are to stay motivated, encourage contributors, + support users. Compared to that, taking care of the code is much more straightforward.

When speaking of your project, even when you are the only single person who contributes to it for the moment, try to instead refer to it as our project. The project is a communal, joint effort and we are a team that makes it. Sure, that team is sometimes or even often just the single you, but by being inclusive in your language you make it clear and obvious that everyone is invited to be a part of the project.
The project is "we" not "I" nor "you". How you communicate in and about Open Source projects is important and will greatly affect how you and your work is perceived. Clear communication is important because you are working with humans, and in many cases people who do not have English as their primary language.
When contributing to a project, avoid speaking of doing things to your project or use phrases like "you might want to do this" etc. As a contributor to a project, you are lining up to become a member of that community and therefore you are part of it. You do not send improvements to them, so send them to us. We might want to do this in our project. You will find that the receiving end of your help also appreciates that you are part of the solution, not just an outsider throwing in things.

A question to the #Tech bubble: I would like to use #Thunderbird with a bunch of shared calendars over Caldav. I had this issue two years ago and now here it comes again: Thunderbird becomes very slow as soon as all these calendars are added. They contain plenty of events each, many of them are reoccuring and I have tried both with and without offline support and also disabling autorefresh on some of those. I recall that back when I had the issue last, switching the view to show just one calendar at a time would help but to no avail now. Is this something I have to live with in 2023? ###Mozilla #OpenSource

For the past few weeks, I worked on a new #XMPP project: #1999 !
1999 aims to be an XMPP client that is:
1. #free and #opensource
2. cross-platform (mobile and desktop)
3. modern looking, with a uniform look across platforms
4. user-friendly
5. secure

The goal is to have an xmpp client that has the same name, ui and features on every platform, which I believe is what xmpp lacks right now.

I am not a programmer so this is only a UI at the moment!
