Gibt es in/für #Thüringen einen #Matrix Homeserver, den man gemeinnützigen Initiativen, Vereinen, Selbsthilfegruppen, Nachbarschaftshilfen etc. empfehlen kann?
Ich würde da matrix.kraut.space in den Raum werfen. Allerdings ist der bisher nur für Vereinsmitglieder offen. Hier muss ich mal mit dem Vorstand vom @krautspace und den Admins reden, ob wir den auch für weitere Kreise öffnen können.
In der Regel sind es zu Beginn immer erstmal nur kleine Gruppen meist nichtmal 10 Leute.
Es wäre halt gut, wenn man einen stabil laufenden Homeserver empfehlen kann.
Der Homeserver müsste vielleicht auch keine total offene Registrierung haben, bzw. wäre eine beschränkte Registrirerung gar nicht so schlecht, man muss ja auch Spam und so managen können...
Der muss auch nicht jede Bridge am Start haben über den Manche z.B. WA-Gruppen mit Tausenden Teinehmern haben. Ich habe die Erfahrung gemacht, dass es dadurch oft Instabilitäten und Probleme geben kann.
Ich bin keine Regionalpatriot, aber Leute vom Lande wollen sich mitunter nicht auf einem Stadt-Server anmelden oder bei einer UNI, will sagen, eine allgemeine weniger nerdige Bezeichnung/ Name wäre von Vorteil bzw. würde die Hürde senken...
@stephan@social.bau-ha.usVielleicht könnte man auch ein paar derer aus Thüringen zusammenbringen, die in den letzten Jahren Erfahrungen gesammelt haben, und mit einer UNI ein Projekt kreieren, in dem so ein Homeserver aufgesetzt, gemanaged wird, aber auch evaluiert wird, wie der normale Nutzer damit klar kommt, was verbessert werden muss etc.
Früher oder später wird ja wohl fast jeder in D Krankenversicherte mit Matrix zu tun bekommen...insofern könnte es auch ein Projekt in Sachen Digitalbildung Digtialkompetenz werden...?

Es gibt Situationen, in denen Alt-Texte gar nicht notwendig sind, weil beispielsweise der Text bereits im Body der Nachricht vorhanden ist. Oder bei dem das Bild eine reine visuelle Illustration dessen ist, was beschrieben wurde. Da wären Alt-Texte einfach nur redundant und die Maßnahme überflüssig.
Ich schreibe sehr konsequent alt-Texte, möchte aber niemanden dazu nötigen.
Sorry, aber wenn mir jemand vorschreiben will, was ich posten darf und was nicht, dann bin ich raus. Dann hätte ich gleich bei X bleiben können und mich der dortigen Zensur fügen können.
Das, was Du hier postest, hat ja eine Wirkung auf andere Menschen. Und wenn du ein Bild postest und absichtlich den Alttext weglässt, hat es auf die Menschen, die Bilder nicht sehen können, die Wirkung, dass du sie ausschließt.
Deine Beschwerde klingt ein bisschen wie "Ich lasse mir doch nicht vorschreiben, wo ich rauchen darf"
Es geht hier nicht um Zensur und Verbote, sondern um Haltung, Wertschätzung und Umgangsformen.

Es geht um die Vorschriften und die möchtegern-Polizisten, die hier mit erhobenem Zeigefinger die Leute anschwärzen oder eben Vorschriften machen wollen.
Und nein, das ist nicht das gleiche, wie im Kinderzimmer zu rauchen. Das eine schließt (vermeintlich) Leute aus. Das andere schädigt die Gesundheit.

Wenn es die nicht bräuchte, weil sich alle vernünftig verhielten, bräuchte es keinerlei GESETZE. Dass es sie aber gibt und die Gerichte dennoch überlastet sind zeigt ja leider, dass der Mensch an sich eher selten ohne Leitplanken klar kommt.

Der Digital Independence Day hat ordentlich Bewegung reingebracht: Innerhalb nur einer Woche entstanden Info-Folder in drei Sprachen – komplett layoutet von @digitalcourage. Deutsch und Englisch wurden noch rechtzeitig zur FOSDEM gedruckt, Französisch folgte als PDF. Ja, ein paar kleine Fehler sind noch drin – Version 2 kommt asap. Speaking of jumping ship, I store all my files in #Microsoft #OneDrive and would like to get rid of that dependency as I'm working to replace my workflow with #FLOSS tools where practical. Do y'all have recommendations for a #CloudStorage service which has reasonably #accessible clients for #ScreenReader users (I primarily use #Fedora Workstation 43 but also use #Windows 11, #Android, and #iOS), can sync to my local filesystem, and/or can appear in the #GNOME desktop File Manager? I'm not interested in self-hosting something like #Nextcloud, #OwnCloud, etc. Any suggestions or firsthand experiences would be greatly appreciated.

The internet connection here has been somewhat flaky the last couple of days, possibly weather-related, so I've been pretty much exclusively using AT&T mobile data, as it's more reliable than the fiber ISP. Go figure.
With two bars of signal, I'm getting around 450 Mb/sec down, anywhere between 7 and 22 Mb/sec up.
Tonight, I connected my iPhone 16 Pro to one of the USB-C ports of my Mac to use my phone as a wired hotspot, and I noticed lots of jitter, packet loss, and very high latency that I wasn't seeing either on the device itself, or when using it as a WiFi hotspot. I'd think a direct connection would be better, but apparently not.

It is pretty annoying to spend time formatting code with a screen reader. I switched to automatic code formatters and stopped thinking about it. There is one for basically every popular language: Black for Python, clang-format for C and C++, swift-format for Swift, Prettier for JS, etc. For example, you just run `swift-format -rip .` before commiting, or I think you can even make Git do it for you via setting up a pre-commit hook. I think it's an easy quality of life upgrade! lol

Ok so hey #Canada #GenX especially people from #Winnipeg who spent time in Eaton Place downtown in the early 80s, because that is the specific instance of what I'm certain was in many government offices and such.
Ok. It is maybe 1980 I'm late single digits and I go downtown with my gramma a lot, and we spend a fair amount of time in Eaton Place, her doing whatever she did, and me doing a circuit of Petland, a record store on the second floor, the arcade, and near the North entrance of the South building, there was a government office of some kind.
In that government office, there was a computer. Not one that #retro heads would recognize, it was large, did simple colour graphics, and had a weird nonstandard keyboard about the size of a gigantic TV remote, on a curly cable. Possibly some sort of Unix thing and I think it was networked, presumably on the Internet.
It mostly did very boring stuff and I was just a kid, I didn't care about whatever its main functions were, but I had learned that if I entered f518, there was a graphical mystery house game of some kind.
I remember that office had a fair amount of techy stuff, like, there was a kind of pushbutton video jukebox where you could watch various promotional videos, I remember one of the things it played was a Folklorama ad with the "la-lalala-la-lalalaaa" earworm, which my older California chick cousin and I laughed at one summer day that we were all downtown.
I would really love to find out what was the deal with that computer system, though.
