I am going to have a nervous breakdown any minute now. A full-on panic attack. They are coming to kill us, people. It's not some hypothetical far-off thing. It has already started in a trickle, a long time ago, with a continual building of callous "accidental" deaths in the immigrant holding camps. They will begin doing it intentionally in the coming months. It seems this time around, they might not even hide it, like the Nazis did.

If we do not act, we will die. We need to march NOW. We need to march EVERY DAMN DAY. We need to make plans and carry them out to stop this. Be careful. Be clever. Be effective. Be whatever you need to be, to do your part to stop this.

I just signed up for this event, I think it's with the same people who did No Kings, but this one isn't a protest, they're building up prolonged resistance. No idea how effective it'll be, but I'm done being scared and ready to take action. It's time. mobilize.us/s/20dyMy

I love this so much. It's pretty much a GUI for #tampermonkey, offering an easier way for #blind folks to find elements on a webpage and do things to them. Yes, you could do the same things directly by just writing JavaScript yourself. But this is much, much faster, and requires a bit less knowledge. It took me less than 30 seconds to turn all the story titles on fanfiction.net into headings. Labeling a button, or making other small changes would be just as fast. The typos and slightly incorrect English put me off at first; especially the word "blinds" for blind people felt weird and derogatory. apparently the author is from #Cameroon, though, so maybe that's standard there. stsolution2.org/WebAccessibilizer/#a11y#accessibility#screenreader

For people who are scared of what's happening, I just signed up for One Million Rising, a series of online events taking place over the summer to help train people to create a mass movement against Trump and the republicans trying to destroy this country. I've never done one of these before, but it's time. Please join me. mobilize.us/s/20dyMy

AOC wrote on BlueSky, a good summary of the Trump budget bill adopted in Congress.

"I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing."

At last year's ACB Convention in Jacksonville, one of my highlites was a spontaneous jam session with Marcus Roberts and Jason Castonguay. I captured video as best as I could, but combined with another visual perspective and a binaural setup, with Robins help, here is a video of some of the highlights. Although I'm sad that I didn't make it to ACB this year, heres hoping those who are attending can capture some cool moments. youtu.be/DcKjQSPRt9Y

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

W3C tech: "PNG has been updated for the first time in 22 years — new spec supports HDR and animation"

"According to ProgramMax, the U.S. Library of Congress, Library and Archives Canada, and the National Archives of Australia recommend PNG for archiving digital images, likely because of its lossless compression. With this amount of trust placed on the file format, it must keep up with the times and ensure that it will continue to help preserve our visual history."

@ZBennoui Played with Mac OS 26 a bit, got to talk to the built-in LLM via a shortcut. It works... Now need to install Xcode beta etc and play some more. Unfortunately, the model seems to be about text only, no image reco or generation Seems like this is done by other frameworks. But, having an offline LLM is cool, even if it's only 3B parameters! :) .

Further to my recent post, promoting KDE, I have observed that they have the following ongoing campaign:

endof10.org/

This capitalises on the opportunity presented by Microsoft discontinuing Windows 10, coupled with Windows 11's unreasonable new hardware requirements, forcing new PC purchases;

The "end of 10" campaign by KDE, encourages people to install *Linux* instead; it has a handy map of where you can go in your country to get help installing it.

Their mastodon is @Endof10

Huh, there's one Prague space on the map, nice :) Might want to join them to provide the required technical, moral and philosophical assistance to those who need it. (Unsurprisingly, most of my irl friends are already Linux users; and if I add acquaintances from the musical community, they usually have age-old Windows/Mac specific workflows, depending on various proprietary and DRMd software (yep, fuck iLOK sideways), that would be quite tough to transfer over to Linux.)

I've used Linux exclusively since 2009 (occasionally BSD), and before that, Linux was my primary operating system, which I first tried out in 2005.

I dual-booted Arch Linux and Windows in college (2008/2009) but I mostly used Arch Linux.

Linux and BSD are burned into my brain, and I no longer know how to use modern Windows versions.

I wish there was a campaign like this in 2005! I was a goofy middle schooler, on my hand-me-down PC; a campaign like @Endof10 would have saved me many headaches.

(2/2) We could have claimed: "Reproducible!" – as we were able to reproduce the very same APK over and again, on multiple builders even. But: it was not the APK "upstream" shipped we reproduced, just our own builds.

Hence, if you wonder about the warning shield at DavDroid v1.5.1: We could not reproduce THAT APK. But, the difference was minimal, and not in the code itself: it was just the baseline profile, which differed in number of "hot" (important) methods: developer.android.com/topic/pe…

in reply to IzzyOnDroid ✅

And now you wonder why the shield turned green, right? Well: when after about 15 tries we always got the byte-identical APK, but not one matching the original, fate seemed to have been sealed. But I forgot to commit recipe & logs – and today, next to the "off-by-one" we got the "one time lucky", and succeeded reproducing the original APK.

Life's a bitch. And so are RBs, sometimes… Sometimes, they are like ferrets: you try to shoo them in front of you, but they come around and nip your calf 🙈

There was recently an article about using salvaged Sun Ray thin clients with a modern server. @bcantrill's response to that article on Hacker News mentioned his story about using DTrace to debug a performance problem on a Sun Ray server. He linked to a paper he wrote for Usenix, but I prefer his extended telling in this 2007 talk: youtube.com/watch?v=TgmA48fILq…
