It searches for the patterns @user@host.tld, user@host.tld and host.tld/@user in the screen name, description, location and URL field. It displays them to you in the correct format for easy copying as well as a CSV download that can be imported to #Mastodon.

Bei der Suche nach Accounts oder Hashtags werden meines Wissens nur bereits bekannte Instanzen durchsucht. Also solche, zu denen bereits eine Verbindung besteht, weil man einem Account dort folgt oder Kommentiert hat. Ein Henne-Ei-Problem.
@derAlff_iot Hilfreich kann es sein, die öffentlichen oder globalen Timelines großer Instanzen durchzusehen und so interessante Beiträge bzw Accounts zu finden. Nach und nach füllt sich dann die eigene Timeline, wenn gefolgte Accounts irgendetwas von Dritten kommentieren usw...
@derAlff_iot Bei Friendica hast du oben in der Navigation einen runden Button - Unterhaltungen auf diesem und anderen Servern - dort wird so ziemlich alles aus dem Fediverse angespült und eignet sich zum vorsichtigen Stöbern.

No problem, you've no idea how grateful I am to have a good mail client on Linux, and how development is ramping up. I'm forced to use Outlook in work as our main support desk channel, so frustrating.
I'm very interested to see how development progesses on @k9mail, though I use #FairEmail as it's a more feature rich client. Using with @mailbox_org as my privacy respecting email provider.
@eliptic That's cool, feels nice to share the positive vibes. I didn't realize how much I liked #Thunderbird until I was forced to use Outlook as a main support desk channel in my job. It's soooo frustrating! It's a relief to use @thunderbird for personal mail.
I like Thunderbird a lot, so more than a year ago I became a monthly regular donor. It would be a great loss if Thunderbird could not be improved and maintained in the future.
Bit miffed with LibreOffice recently though, when an update destroyed my macro library...I wasn't aware that this was an issue and that backup to a different folder was critical! Grrr!

You're right, it's a glaring absence, but it's not a new absence, and it's not going to change. Eugen is Mastodon's BDFL, and he's not going to add quote tweets. I know it's frustrating when you're so accustomed to that interaction pattern, but getting snarky and annoyed is not gonna help your argument.
Your reasoning about why quote tweets should be a standard feature, and how screenshotting a post is basically the same so why make it harder, and how it's not always for dunking, sometimes it's friendly or contextual, is not new to the discussion. Please, if you're going to weigh in, read up on the historyfirst, and maybe read this more recent analysis from @graue.
If you desperately need quote tweets, try another #fediverse hub like Misskey or Fedibird. You'll still be able to keep up with Masto buddies, and you can quote-tweet to your heart's content!

Okay, so I threw together a script to scrape through the bios of the people you're following on the bird site to look for mastodon links. Unfortunately, hardly anyone has bothered to put their mastodon handles in their bios. So get on it, people!
I am still learning how to use Mastodon, I have to say what you wrote makes sense. However, I am still not convinced by the missing "quote" feature. On Twitter I use to post interesting links by quoting the original author's tweet (to give credit to him), and adding a short quote from the article itself. This will not be possible here 🤔

for private browsing @Firefox @lemmy.ml is fine I guess. But if you are using any browser based SaaS tools for work, I would always go with a chromium based browser like @bravebrowser. In Firefox most other browser are just not working as expected.
Brave Browser is also excellent for PC and mobile. No trackers, very private and I've found it to be lightning fast on both platforms. Bitwarden is also an excellent password manager. It's generally regarded to be the best free password manager and it's premium version is great value for money. Of course I use and highly recommend Tutanota too for it's privacy
