This is awesome! The other day, I uninstalled the Ace extension from my MacBook Air, and locked down the system recovery policy that we had to weaken in order to be able to install the component in the first place. Then, I updated Audio Hijack manually, ran it, and could set it up without problems. Just two permission prompts, and that was it. Really nice! I guess LoopBack will be next? 😉

Der Messenger »Doctolib Siilo« richtet sich an den medizinischen Bereich. Direkt nach dem Start verbindet sich die App zu:
- Google Firebase
- Adjust (Tracking)
- Google Crashlytics (Analyse/Tracking)
- Google Firebase Remote Config
- Google Firebase Logging

ok, a little late but still a fun time, I think: Jonathan Haidt's new book demonizing social media comes under fire from people who, unlike Haidt, know what they're talking about skepchick.org/2024/04/is-jonat…

Oof, make that 9 updates; I had to roll back one of them as Round Sync added a self-updater (thus bypassing the additional APK scans in my repo). Author is contacted and will hopefully take care soon.

@I This would be a great suggestion for Mozilla Connect! connect.mozilla.org is where all our suggestions live and can get in front of the community and developers!

I used to think that #emoji #reactions are for the illiterate.

Then I got addicted to them in Signal and Matrix.

Now I can't wait for #Jabber clients to implement them. Why is this #XEP still experimental after 5 years, @larma ?

RE: mastodon.social/users/kjhealy/…

My most nuclear take is that the people whose origins have granted them the most success and leverage in technical fields are the least equipped to caliper the potential individual impact of LLMs on certain axes of economic marginalization

This is a good example of why I think that:

Well done. Facebook (sorry, "Meta"): "Reality Labs has now lost more than $45 billion since the end of 2020, when Meta first began reporting the business segment separately."

Yes, billion with a B.

That's an insane amount of money. I don't even want to go into the whole "think how many hospitals could have been funded with that money".

On the upside, they are consistent in their idiocy and i was wrong to say they'd quietly stopped investing in it. Nope, still going.

Quick reminder that @element built a metaverse that works better than anything Facebook has shown, for a fraction of the investment, and built entirely on free and open source technology including @matrix : thirdroom.io/

Is Totem (Gnome Videos) still maintained? As per apps.gnome.org/Totem/ latest version is 43 from 2022. Is it going to be removed from Gnome Core apps or replaced with something new?

[1] Found a random lens attachment for my phone I bought ages ago. The results did not disappoint lol.

“As I’ve argued previously, we — with good reason — continually complain about the state of Twitter under Elon Musk, but I’d argue Raghavan (and, by extension, Google CEO Sundar Pichai) deserve as much criticism, if not more, for the damage they’ve done to society.”

Amen to them receiving criticism too, but idk if it’s just as much or more.

“Because Google is the ultimate essential piece of online infrastructure, just like power lines and water mains are in the physical realm.”

Uhhhhh…I wouldn’t go that far. Bing is comparable (powers most alternatives, inc. DuckDuckGo). Yandex isn’t quite there, but combine Mojeek, Marginalia, and other independent indexes and I’d say that Google’s not as unique as we think it is for organic link results. I feel like this article puts Google (and pre-Bing Yahoo, for that matter) on a bit of a pedestal.

This guy is taking no prisoners. Even though we all have a good intuitive sense as to why Google has gone to shit, there has been something slippery about it. This article makes it all more concrete.

I am constantly amazed at all the ways we continue to allow religious institutions to directly impact the function of our democracy despite the Establishment Clause essentially telling us to maybe not:
