A quick #FOSDEM guide from someone who's been attending since it was still called OSDEM:
1. Be mindful of other people. This is an extremely busy conference. 2. If a talk is in progress and you want to enter the room: don't. Wait until the next talk. 3. If you didn't read 2, try to enter as quietly as humanly possible, and ideally even quieter. Many of the rooms have terrible acoustics and you will annoy hundreds of people. 4. The hallway track is very busy. Take it outside when possible.

FOSDEM is the largest free and open source software conference in Europe. Attending FOSDEM allows us to promote #Luanti, bring the community together, and connect with other open source projects.

as #FOSDEM 2026 is approaching I was thinking about bridging the livestreams to #PeerTube as well.
Streams are under #CreativeCommons license that allows sharing videos, so there is no big deal in it.
As there are plenty of rooms (and we dibs Social Web for #VHSky :) ), it would be fun to coordinate streaming accross multiple instances to stream as much rooms as possible without overloading single instance.
What do you think, anybody interested?

Hey all, in two week this years #FOSDEM will happen in #Brussels - there will be a Social Web Dev room on Saturday and a brief update about Friendica.

As ever in January, Element lit up like a Christmas tree on my phone as all the #Matrix invites for #FOSDEM came in this evening. Feels vaguely festive.
Although there won't be any dedicated devroom for #accessibility electronics at #fosdem , nothing prevents us from hooking up in the cafeteria or something. Anyone interested in adaptive technology for the disabled, it will be great to meet you.

I really hope that @Mer__edith comes to #FOSDEM and announces that #Signal will move at least parts of their server infrastructure to Europe and other regions, using hosting companies that are not connected to the US in order to mitigate the risk of a Trump order to shut their AWS account(s) down.

I am thinking of going to #FOSDEM. But the travel time is quite long 14-16h+. So I would like to combine it with some additional trip "nearby". Any recommendations what to do in winterly times?
#IzzyOnDroid is about community. That's why we don't want our #FOSDEM visit to be just about us, but also about all the amazing apps that make IzzyOnDroid so great.
Do you have an app that's available on IzzyOnDroid? Bring some stickers with you to FOSDEM and drop them off at our booth! We'll make sure to display them so your users can pick some up!
BTW, I was once invited to moderate a DNS panel at #FOSDEM composed of the greats of the Internet: @bagder , @bortzmeyer , and @bert_hubert
Main reasons for my agreeing to moderate was a) so that I could actually enter the otherwise FULL DNS dev room, and b) to ask Daniel for a curl sticker.
