One of my posts here gained popularity in the #Flathub vs. traditional #Linux distributions debate and I still stand by my claim that @flathub enforces its rules more strictly than Linux distributions and checks maintainers more thoroughly. None of my #Fedora packages have ever been held for review after being accepted into the repositories.
Even though it's a complication for me as a maintainer, I approve it.

Cory Doctorow @pluralistic on #AI:

[T]he AI bubble is driven by monopolists who've conquered their markets and have no more growth potential, who are desperate to convince investors that they can continue to grow by moving into some other sector, e.g. "pivot to video," crypto, blockchain, NFTs, AI, and now "super-intelligence." Further: the topline growth that AI companies are selling comes from replacing most workers with AI, and re-tasking the surviving workers as AI babysitters ("humans in the loop"), which won't work. Finally: AI cannot do your job, but an AI salesman can 100% convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job, and when the bubble bursts, the money-hemorrhaging "foundation models" will be shut off and we'll lose the AI that can't do your job, and you will be long gone, retrained or retired or "discouraged" and out of the labor market, and no one will do your job. AI is the asbestos we are shoveling into the walls of our society and our descendants will be digging it out for generations:

pluralistic.net/2025/05/27/ran…

The only thing […] that we can do about this is to puncture the AI bubble as soon as possible, to halt this before it progresses any further and to head off the accumulation of social and economic debt. To do that, we have to take aim at the material basis for the AI bubble (creating a growth story by claiming that defective AI can do your job).

You're welcome. Scripting in Fish is a joy, they really try to make it as convenient as possible. You can get away with only knowing about variables, if statements and functions and learn the rest when you need to, including all the built-in functions. Here's some documentation to peruse: fishshell.com/docs/current/lan…
in reply to Johann

You can also use the -c switch when you define the default shell in .wezterm.lua so it'll start tdsr automatically. Example config (change your_user_name to your user name):

local wezterm = require 'wezterm'
local config = wezterm.config_builder()

-- Set left Option key to send Esc+ (Meta)
config.send_composed_key_when_left_alt_is_pressed = false
config.send_composed_key_when_right_alt_is_pressed = true

-- Set default shell
config.default_prog = { '/opt/homebrew/bin/fish','-c','/Users/your_user_name/tdsr/tdsr' }

-- Disable quit confirmation
config.window_close_confirmation = 'NeverPrompt'

config.prefer_to_spawn_tabs=true

return config

It wasn't updated since 2018, but we still see regular downloads by F-Droid clients for it. We'd like to know if it's still useful – or if those having installed it via our repo were rather disappointed by a non-working up, but didn't report it to us.

After a short break, I’m returning to accessibility training services.

I provide one-on-one training for blind and visually impaired users across multiple platforms. My teaching is practical and goal-driven: not just commands, but confidence, independence, and efficient workflows that carry into daily life, study, and work.

I cover:
iOS: VoiceOver gestures, rotor navigation, Braille displays, Safari, text editing, Mail and Calendars, Shortcuts, and making the most of iOS apps for productivity, communication, and entertainment.
macOS: VoiceOver from basics to advanced, Trackpad Commander, Safari and Mail, iWork and Microsoft Office, file management, Terminal, audio tools, and system upkeep.
Windows: NVDA and JAWS from beginner to advanced. Training includes Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, web browsing, customizing screen readers, handling less accessible apps, and scripting basics.
Android: TalkBack gestures, the built-in Braille keyboard and Braille display support, text editing, app accessibility, privacy and security settings, and everyday phone and tablet use.
Linux: Orca and Speakup, console navigation, package management, distro setup, customizing desktops, and accessibility under Wayland.

Concrete goals I can help you achieve:
Set up a new phone, tablet, or computer
Send and manage email independently
Browse the web safely and efficiently
Work with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
Manage files and cloud storage
Use social media accessibly
Work with Braille displays and keyboards
Install and configure accessible software across platforms
Troubleshoot accessibility issues and build reliable workflows
Make the most of AI in a useful, productive way

So, helloo #Hear-me.Social. an #Introduction is in order, I feel. I’m Jakob. I work as an accessibility consultant, meaning I train and educate companies and people on how to make their products and services more human friendly for everyone, including people with disabilities. I am blind since birth, which has brought me to work within the disability advocacy sector, particularly through Estonian Blind Union, where I am the president. I’m also an audio nerd. I seriously am an audio perfectionist and have usually a few microphones with me to capture interesting noises and moments. I’ll occasionally post my #audioPhotograph here as well. Sometimes, I play piano and use #Reaper to create some tingelbingelings. I live in Estonia with my family, but travelling, wether because of work or for fun is in my heart. The noises in other countries are always more fun. Anyway, hit that reply and say hi! Oh yeah, tis account is currenty serving as my bakup account, meaning that my daily posting lives at @jakobrosin@universeodon.com. However, I might change that at some point, who knows.

CSS is kinda fabulous r/n. I've got this nested table of contents for a page that's sticky along the side as you scroll, list of links and details/summaries with nested lists, that is both a scrollspy with whatever is currently visible, but also automatically opens and closes the details! ALL WITHOUT JAVASCRIPT.

A wonderful combo of scroll-target-group and :target-current for the scrollspy, ::details-content w/content-visible for the details opening, a healthy use of :has, and ofc pos: sticky.

in reply to Olivier Forget

So as always, @SaraSoueidan has a wonderful writeup on the accessibility of the scrollspy technique (sarasoueidan.com/blog/css-scro…) and it looks like there's a CL that's landed (but not yet in stable) to correctly add aria-current automatically chromium-review.googlesource.c…. The CSS trick doesn't correctly communicate that the disclosure is expanded (at least in VO), maybe another CL like the former can help make that happen here, too.
