"does not crawl content for generative AI model training" sounds oddly specific. It feels like their plan is to have their own search index for "LLM grounding", AKA injecting relevant information into the context to make the answers citable and more factual.
@miki Yeah I agree, they're definitely trying to make a clear distinction.
I suspect orgs are becoming increasingly likely to outright block bots which pull content to train LLMs for whatever reason so perhaps they're trying to avoid that.
Would be nice if they were a bit more open on the detail of what they *are* going to use the bot for though.

If you want to add more security to your Mastodon account, you can set up a system called "two factor authentication" (also known as 2FA). This prevents anyone else logging into your account even if they find out your email and password.
2FA works using a special app on your phone which gives you a short code number to type in when you log in.

@Rich Not even close. If it did, it came and went quickly. Starting a call is just barely doable, for example. And let's not even mention the inaccessibility that is session verification.
Officially going to ditch my Matrix account thanks to the poor accessibility experience with the Element X mobile app and the Element web app… neither of these options play nicely with screen readers in their current form, and my level of frustration has reached its breaking point. I’ll be removing all links to my Matrix account from my website in the near future, but all other links to my social media and messaging apps are still valid. Basically, accessibility is my primary roadblock using more apps on the Fediverse as it seems most of them, don’t take accessibility for screen reader users into account in their design, or if they do, it’s not a serious commitment. #A11Y #Accessibility #Fediverse #Matrix #ElementX #ElementWeb
I tried making a Neocities account today. I was stopped dead in my tracks by an unlabeled field with protected input in the signup form. I thought it was the password field, but there's a labeled password field with protected input a little further down, so I have no idea what that first one is. Just a little further down is an hcaptcha challenge that forces me to give my email address to hcaptcha because hcaptcha can't be bothered to implement actual accessibility
On complex forms, add an error summary for forms so users know what to fix at a glance. If the form is long, add contextual errors near the field. #accessibility #a11y

Tak jsem právě plnohodnitně prešel na #grapheneos Díky @mahdi jsem synchronizoval kontakty a kalendáře. A díky tipům dalších jsem vybral základní aplikace. Teď začnu používat, a případně zkoušet varianty. #oscloud a @archos si nechám až po ukončení této fáze. Na starém mobilu jsem si zvykl na jednoduchý spoštěč - Olauncher. Na F-droidu pár (podle popisu) podobných je. Máte někdo zkušenost s některým podobným, který byste mi doporučili? Zatím jsem narazil na jediný problém...firemní profil. Vytvořil jsem si profil, v něm nainstaloval google a Intune Company Portal. V něm se přihlásím na svůj firemní účet, ale nedaří se vytvořit firemní prostor (proces havaruje), takže tam nedostanu firemní aplikace (outlook, teams..). Doufám, že je to jen nějakým nastavením. Poradí někdo. Předem děkuji 🙏
Minulý rok mi nešel Revolut, aplikace odmítala alternativní OS, i když technicky nebyl důvod. Musel jsem používat druhý telefon. Oni to pak nějak obešli, ale tohle bude asi přímo na vaší firmě. Jen hádám, třeba někdo zkušenější bude vědět víc. @mahdi

@tardis Thanks for the reply. I believe I understand how you feel. I tuned myself out of all news and public conversation back in 2019 (having never participated much in the first place) and cut almost all of my ties to Bulgaria in 2021. I'm getting whiplash reading the news, as most of the names and political parties mean nothing to me. I don't know what the current discourse is and I'm not going to bother you with it. A part of me just wants to be hopeful, as scarred as I am.
Regarding gen-Z: as a student of sociology I should know better, since the current consensus is that generations don't actually exist. I only acknowledge it as a self-label that many find useful for social identification. For the sake of acting according to my knowledge I should probably stop using it...
I use Castro and even have the plus subscription. After the new owners started implementing fixes and new features, it became a viable option again. The concept really speaks to my way of thinking.
@marcozehe Same for me. I always loved the Inbox + Queue concept. They still lack a desktop application. And the desktop is where I listen to podcasts most of the time. So, my little open source app will implement this pattern with some small changes.

Určitě nechci tvrdit, že všechno bude sluníčkový. Chce-li mi ale někdo tvrdit, že v tom globálním průseru do kterýho se řítíme hrajou roli nějaký 4 roky náckovských bezmozků, tak mě to asi nechává chladným.
Co mě chladným klimaticky naopak nenechává je #Ukrajina a rusáci, kde tankerama sviníme oceány a furt někde nesmyslně něco hoří. A to úplně přeskakuju tu hromadu mrtvých na obou stranách kvůli jednomu idiotovi s malým pinďourem.
Neber to prosím jako whataboutismus - nemám to ničím podložený, ale jsem přesvědčenej o tom, že klimaticky je tohle podstatně horší věc

Větší obavy bych tedy v tomto ohledu měl spíš o nás než o Němce.

The new offline Ava HD voice available for Windows 11 insiders in the Narrator #screenreader is...wild. Who...what...why? She wants so badly to be my friend and I hate it! I just want her to read the things on the screen. Why is she so smiley and happy? To be fair, all of the other natural voices for Narrator are nearly perfect. If they were just a bit quicker, and had fewer weird pauses, and worked with NVDA, they could almost replace eloquence.
Another take that I have seen way too much, in response to this and other violent attacks against Jews, is almost too awful for me to summarize. It is the idea that the attack could be justified if the victims were all “Zionists.”All these people, sitting with their phones or computers, fantasizing over which Jews they will spare in the selection, and which of us they will slaughter. They most likely have “anti-fascist” in their bio, but they are Nazis in their souls, salivating over Nazi daydreams as their hobby.
