Seit Metas Ankündigung, Inhalte auf den eigenen Portalen anders zu moderieren, wächst Pixelfed stark. Nun ist aufgefallen, dass Facebook Links dorthin sperrt.
Einerseits schon sehr amüsant das Meta sich sowie das Geschäftsmodell von Instagram durch Pixelfed bedroht sieht und nun zu solchen unlauteren Maßnahmen greift. 😅😉
Anderseits ziemlich bedenklich in mehr als einer Hinsicht sowie wohl auch rechtlich, das Meta auf Instagram nun Links zu Pixelfed als Alternative sperrt und somit Zensur vom feinsten betreibt. 🖕🤮

I seem to recall the Windows curl having problems like being (very) outdated or having bugs that normally aren't there. Is this still an issue you think, or is the shipped curl version "good enough" nowadays?

Hi, just tried to update to new version and getting error saying another version is open on another logged in account, which is not the case, but for some reason it can't delete lots of files it wants to. Have tried restarting NVDA and doing again.

Hi, I did get it sorted in the end. I'm still not quite sure what happened. I had a Windows update during the time I was having trouble, which was probably a large part of it, although I had not started that process when my NVDA problem arose. About 4 restarts, two attempts at the Windows update, and a lot of messing with audio settings, which got entirely messed up in the process too, I did get my NVDA fixed. However, while I was having the issues, my Narrator also stopped working, and now I can't use the natural voices with it any more, even though I can use those voices in the Nural Voices NVDA addon! So now, NVDA is the screenreader with all the voices lol
@davetaylor2112 It might be worth reaching out to the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk: microsoft.com/en-au/accessibil… I have previously seen Windows updates break various OneCore voices and the solution then was to remove the speech pack for that voice and re-add it back to Windows. It may be the same with these, I'm not sure.
Wait, Irestart NVDA again, and about is back to 24.4.1 so when the update fails, it leaves the installer copy running, and said copy doesn't read the results when I type into the start menu like my 2024.4.1 does
@davetaylor2112 (explanation rather than solution): When you run the installer for (any build of) NVDA, it loads a temporary copy of THAT version, which is what reads the license agreement and installation options out to you. It is possible to choose "Continue running" which keeps using that copy (but you can't save settings there). If the install has failed unexpectedly, it may keep that version active
Just to let you know, I discovered that a number of things were broken in my Windows, when Narrator and NVDA both stopped working today. The problems start in Narrator by having any of the natural voices selected, but after Iuninstalled NVDA a few times and reinstalled the latest VB, Imanaged to get it all working again

The other product, said USB/USB-C $25.99 with 13 percent savings $29.99 he said it was about $30, so I'm assuming that he's referring to the second product. I'm Hungarian, but I'm very interested in slavic languages and culture. I speak Russian fluently, as well as Polish, but in the latter I'm a beginner. I studied Russian at university for 4 years, and now I'm an official translator. I am very interested in music: I play piano, as well as a little guitar, and sing in my freetime. I love animals; I have a black cat who has been part of my life for 12 years. I like technology and IT. I want to learn programming as a hobby, but no one is teaching me yet. I also really like retro, old things. I also like to play computer games, although I have a hard time losing. 😊 I usually smile because it's important for me to connect with people and for everyone to feel comfortable talking to me. What I don't think is worth hiding is that I am blind. But that fact doesn't stop me from doing almost everything I set my mind to. I'm just happy to be here! 😊
