is this the time to mention self-hosted gitea
I never really used github in any personal capacity but ever since copilot became a thing, I realised that every contribution you make feeds the infernal machine, so I started looking for alternatives

#Catima 2.35.0 is out!
This release lets you further tweak the barcode size in the fullscreen view and slightly improves barcode finding reliability when scanning or loading a barcode from an image or PDF file. It also fixes a crash when trying to load a pkpass file without a barcode in it.

In a move that surprises absolutely noone, GitHub now requires users to login in order to browse public repositories (including open source projects). After a few (~10) requests, you get blocked (I can confirm). In order to fight AI scrapers, I guess.
So, GitHub decided to blanket-limit access to open source projects as a defense against the very scourge that they(r parent company) unleashed on the world.
I won't be hypocrite: it's a bit embarrassing, but undeniably satisfying to say "told you so". I moved away from GitHub long ago and I moved all my stuff to Codeberg instead. And so happy I did!

Three years ago I got my second #GitHub contribution matrix in steel:
daniel.haxx.se/blog/2022/04/09…
Yeps, those are the two i have. Nothing since.
More steel
I didn't expect this, and this year I wasn't asked ahead of time if I wanted to receive this gift. It is however something of a collector's item that I find very enjoyable. I received my GitHub contribution matrix printed in steel.daniel.haxx.se
I can't rank the issues for all of FOSS projects but to add one missing in your suggestions:
The increasing fragmentation of development platforms after a phase of >10 years of concentration on #GitHub.com. I think its decline started with the acquisition by #Microsoft. That wasn't good either but fragmentation makes it harder to get contributions by newcomers who are not yet part of your platform.
#Catima 2.34.5 is out!
This is a maintenance release that targets Android 15 and fixes a crash.
The app will look slightly uglier on some devices, due to Google's changes in how drawing over the system and navigation bar works. Sadly, supporting proper edge-to-edge requires extensive rewrites (help very welcome!), so I opted to at least ensure we target Android 15 before any deadlines.

#catima 2.34.4 is out!
This reverts Catima to targetSdk 34 (Android 14) for now, to fix the UI regressions introduced in Catima 2.34.3.
It also includes the fixes in 2.34.3 and a new little feature to sort your cards by the "valid from" date, useful for things like train tickets.

#Catima 2.34.1 is out!
This fixes a minor bug in Catima 2.34.0 where selecting an "invalid" pkpass file (corrupted/not actually pkpass) after choosing to open from Pkpass would cause the app to crash. Now, you just get a little message stating the file could not be read instead.

#Catima 2.34.0 is out!
This release adds support for #Passbook (#pkpass) files, commonly used for event tickets and more!
It also contains some other minor fixes and better handling of image thumbnails (especially transparent ones).
On the end-user side, this release probably doesn't look that different, but it contains some major code refactoring. It is also the first release with #Kotlin code in it.

@markuswerle @jakob @pluralistic This is how I interpret the situation: #GitHub offers open source programs free access to GitHub actions today exactly as it did in the past. This access is limited in CPU performance and parallelism. It always was. All free CI services do this.
The #curl project was bumped to a fancier account to give us more actions powers: more CPU and more parallelism.
That is them doing us a favor and them supporting us, not the other way around.
