The Tang dynasty poet Han Yu (768–824) wrote a well-known fable about Bole and qianlima.
Only when an era has a man like Po-le are there thousand-li horses. Thousand-li horses are common, but Po-les, on the other hand, are rare. Thus even though there may be famous horses, they only become abused under the hand of the man to whom they are enslaved, and they die in the stables—never having been recognized as thousand-li horses. "Fittingly, the 1,350-person Translation Bureau is leading the way in the federal government in experimenting with AI. It is developing the first project under Ottawa’s AI strategy meant to serve as a showpiece for what government can do with technology: a self-serve automated #translation tool for civil servants.
If the government is serious, the Bureau should set itself on a mission to all but put itself out of business, and to drastically cut the amount Ottawa spends on its services to fulfill its Official Languages Act obligations. I've been working on a thing for a few weeks, and I'm hoping there are #Language / #FileFormat / #Markdown nerds and experts on Mastodon who can provide some input and sanity-check.
I looked for an existing markdown extension file format that would allow me to write a document in multiple languages, and I couldn't find anything that fit the bill.
