Sind sie nicht. Sie haben nur die „richtige“ Software von Haus aus mit an Bord. Die echten Probleme von Linux sind aber immer noch da.

Die meisten dieser Projekte werden auch nicht sehr lange maintained.

Und außerdem: Warum soll ich eine Blindenversion eines Betriebssystems nutzen? Gibt’s bei macOS und Windows doch auch nicht. #a11y

This weekend I was using a Windows 11 box with NVDA to help out a sighted relative with their computer.

I don't understand what the hell they've done with explorer. I open it and can't find the list and tree views to navigate through drives and directory trees. Is there a trick or is it as dire as I think? I ended up raging out and launching it from the command prompt on whichever directory I had to navigate to do cutting and pasting and so on.

aria-roledescription is not a label

It is an alternative expression of the Aural UI of the role of an element.

inappropriately using aria-roledescription may inhibit users’ ability to understand or interact with an element.

The wrong way to use aria-roledescription and call out someone as a fascist:

This is wrong because you are not identifying the subject of the image as a fascist, you are overwriting the <img> element role so it effectively becomes a <fascist> element. Also, there is no explicit text identification of the subject as a fascist.

A much better way to achieve the aim of identifying a fascist (and not misusing aria-roledescription):

Right, accessibility folks! Please could you all weigh in on this!

For good or bad, a common design practice is to make links (goes to a different page) look like buttons. Assuming the underlying code is correct (uses instead of ) so assistive technology announces it correctly, is it OK that the "link" is not underlined?

I'd be grateful for further reading links and/or shouty opinions! 😃
