As we are a #FOSS community, I thought it would be a good idea to ask: Who is #hiring?

Looking for a new challenge.

I am really good at:

- #infosec marketing
- #technicalwriting
- #marketing
- #infosec
- #scripting (#python)

Hoping to bypass the HR filter. If you are #recruiting at a humane company that respects & values employees, please reach out!

#remote

(++ to anyone who picks up on my good/excessive hashtag usage)

i'm derek, he/him. currently in central california and have lived in new york for a bit too

originally went through #music school up through #dma (lol i'd be surprised if that hashtag actually worked and referred to doctor of musical arts) studying #percussion with aspirations of being a "new music" percussionist but didn't stick the landing in music academia. i got a #math degree somewhere along the way and had been getting heavily into #computermusic and #creativecoding sorts of things working at a media lab during the dma so when covid, hit decided to go back to (online) grad school studying computer science. things i'm really into studying cs-wise are #ai/#ml things (more leaning on the ai-side but we'll see) and "soft-cs"/"extra-cs" sorta intersectional things like #hci and #education and starting to read about #computationalcreativity and other things. not sure where my cs studies will go yet but it'd be nice be able to research ai things more. also, i'm really into #foss / #linux sorta things.

other things i'm into are anime and manga (mostly iyashikei, mecha, and ikuhara things), video games, riichi mahjong, animals (mostly cats, sea otters and puffins), stars are cool, and also vast desolate expanses.

think my website better sums up things: derekxkwan.com/

I say that because of just such considerations: Free Software shouldn't change the problems that it works on just in order to avoid exploitation. Instead we need to challenge the exploiters and demand equal and fair treatment. Whether this means that big tech should open source the projects they developed based on #FOSS or that they have to financially support #FOSS developers depends on the developers themselves
#foss

#RFC: Unionize Free Software.

Today #FOSS can be exploited by #BigTech. We need to united free software development and collectively provide a counter to big and exploitative tech, that takes free software as gratis labor and undermines it as soon as free software developers demand anything in return - even if it's just to release your own source code depending on #FOSS as #FOSS.

Thus I present to you: "Unionize Free Software".

Since about two weeks, we've been trying out a Keyoxide Community Forum using the #foss #flarum project.

You can find it here: community.keyoxide.org

This was started after the feedback of many non-developer people who had questions/requests but weren't familiar enough with git forges to raise issues there.

And so far, discussions on it have been interesting and productive 🤩

If you'd like to propose a new service for #keyoxide, we hope you'll find the forum an inviting place to do so 🚀

#pstack is a self-contained stack trace printer.

pstack prints stack traces from running processes or core files. pstack uses an internal DWARF parser to get debugging information. pstack by default just attempts to display the symbols of each traced function, but if debugging info is provided the arguments to the functions can be displayed as well. pstack has special support for #Python traces.

The Fediverse has a podcasting platform called @Castopod which has accounts that can be followed from Mastodon etc. People can also comment, like or share individual episodes. More info at:

castopod.org

It has just moved out of alpha testing into beta testing, with a new interface and lots of new features.

Podcasts can also (of course!) be followed through RSS instead, if you prefer.
