Seen many blind people advocating for Audible's AI narration instead of having narrators they don't like record the audiobook and its takes like this that make me super ashamed of some in my own community. I can't even think of what to call these people.

The reasoning is that an AI voice won't be busy or expensive so we can get more audiobooks and just... I strongly suspect these are Blind people that hate audiobooks and want them gone or otherwise reduced in pop culture. I can't understand the logic otherwise.

The goal was not to create some large or complex application. Simply just a test.

In a move that surprises absolutely noone, GitHub now requires users to login in order to browse public repositories (including open source projects). After a few (~10) requests, you get blocked (I can confirm). In order to fight AI scrapers, I guess.

So, GitHub decided to blanket-limit access to open source projects as a defense against the very scourge that they(r parent company) unleashed on the world.

I won't be hypocrite: it's a bit embarrassing, but undeniably satisfying to say "told you so". I moved away from GitHub long ago and I moved all my stuff to Codeberg instead. And so happy I did!

Next step: radicle.xyz maybe?

So I was browsing the Internet today, and so I found some weird script someone made for Linux which takes a screenshot and describes it with Gemini. As usual, read the script before running it and all that, I obviously wasn't the one who created it because I don't code, so I cannot answer any questions about it or make new features or anything like that. But yeah I mean it's also AI, so don't use it, and Linux will obviously be filled with slop because of this awful person who added A11yAI to Linux, but yeah here it is:

Viewpoint is a Windows program that uses Gemini AI to make user interfaces that aren't accessible, pretty accessible! I was able to navigate the PPSSPP interface with it pretty well! So yeah, it's starting to happen, the use of AI for more than just image descriptions.
