For organization public @GitHub or #GitLab repos, are there best practices on what should go into them? When should it be in a private repo as an experiment vs tied to the organization site? Maintaining a piece of content with an organization comes with some responsibility & possibly some costs. Even just trying to align with #check-my-repo best practices.

Honestly, my first assumption is that Google only rarely pays much attention to accessibility, and generally recommend using other tools.

While not a direct analysis of Sheets and its visualizations, the University of Washington's accessibility team did a comparison of the Google and Microsoft office suites in 2023, and the TL;DR was that Google did quite poorly in nearly all test cases and that Microsoft was more accessible start to finish. ALERT for Bluesky Bridge Users 🚨 🦋

If you are using a Bluesky bridge on Mastodon, DO NOT TAG Mastodon accounts in your posts without prior informed consent from this person.

This could end up showing a preview of this person's profile picture and bio on Bluesky without their consent.

Additionally, be careful about how the upcoming Quote Post feature could behave with Bluesky bridges.

Some of us don't want our information shared with commercial platforms like Bluesky, and have not consented to this bridge.

This practice can even endanger some Fediverse users.

If you have chosen to share your
own data with commercial platforms, make sure you leave the same choice to others.

This is important.

Therapists are secretly using ChatGPT. Clients are triggered.

Some therapists are using #AI during therapy sessions. They’re risking their clients’ trust and privacy in the process.

I taught myself how to use mermaid.js. Expect graphs!

Libervia CLI tip 5:

You can retrieve or modify your contacts list (aka “roster” in XMPP terms) with `li roster`.

One of the subcommands, `stats`, gives you, as its name implies, statistics on your roster.

You’ll notably get the number of contacts per domain, with a percentage representing the domain's “weight.” It’s a simple way to see how decentralized your contacts network is.

The XMPP Network Graph at xmppnetwork.goodbytes.im shows how chat servers connect across the open #XMPP #federation. I'm occasionally checking the number of dots (servers) and lines (connections between servers). For the first time that I've noticed, that connection count is over 10,000!

The graphing engine is having a hard time rendering all of that. 😅

Another dubious entry for #SciArtSeptember Day 1: Fluid

Water drew this irregular yellow squares. I think photographing natural processes, to bring attention to them, can be #SciArt

What happened here is that everything was covered in pollen, then it rained and watter puddles formed in the slightly concave tiles. The floating pollen in the puddles was slowly deposited on the tiles as water evaporated, registering the movement of the fluid.

🤝 The model supports over 1000 languages [EDIT: an earlier version claimed over 1800] and respects opt-out consent of data owners.

▶ This is great for #publicAI and #transparentAI. If you want to test it for yourself, head over to: publicai.co/

🤗 And if you want to download weights, datasets & FULL TRAINING DETAILS, you can find them here:

🔧 Tech report: huggingface.co/swiss-ai/Apertu…

After #Teuken7b and #Olmo2, Apertus is the next big jump in capabilities and performance of #FOSS #LLMs, while also improving #epistemicresilience and #epistemicautonomy with its multilingual approach.

I believe that especially for sensitive areas like #education, #healthcare, or #academia, there is no alternative to fully open #AI models. Everybody should start building upon them and improving them.

🚨 Google is killing Android freedom.

Starting 2027, unverified apps can’t be side-loaded.

➡️ F-Droid harder to install
➡️ Custom APKs blocked
➡️ Google decides what runs on YOUR phone

Google’s Android is becoming Apple: Your device, their rules.

It’s time to switch to open alternatives: Graphene, Calyx, Lineage. ✊

Still, y'know, best of all worlds:

Google provides the justification for many leading manufacturers to produce a variety of devices.

Then the best of those devices get support from third party OS's.

I mean yes, of course Google sucks the big sausage. But Asus and Lenovo and Samsung etc. wouldn't be making all this great hardware for reasonable prices if Google weren't out there pushing Android. And we all benefit when we install LineageOS and similar on those devices.
