Finally got to build this. Quick UI toggles to see all possible permutations of a post.

Previously was trying out Storybook.js but it's a bit too much for my needs (too many files, too many clicks).

CSS view transitions are pretty cool. More permutations need to be added later. And it's fun building this.

I could use some #FediHelp .

As my long-running readers are probably aware, I schedule a _lot_ of posts in advance. I use @bufferapp for this, and I am largely satisfied with this, except for one thing:

They have a fixed character limit of 500 for posts, and thus I cannot make use of the full 10,000 characters of my instance.

This is bad, since most of my scheduled posts are German folk tales exceeding this character limit, and thus I am forced to use screenshots instead of plain texts - which is terrible from an #accessibility point of view (yes, there are readers that can identify the text, but I'd rather use plain text in the first place). So I am looking for alternatives. Here are my requirements:

- It must have a web interface I can use on my desktop PC - I grew up with proper screens and keyboards, and while I _can_ use a smart phone or tablet for complex stuff, I do not find the experience enjoyable.
- It must have a calendar view instead of being a simple, scrollable list - I often schedule posts weeks in advance, and I want to be able to keep track of what is scheduled.
- It must make full use of the character limits of each instance.
- It must allow for scheduling threads - quite a few of the tales I am posting exceed the 10,000 character limit.
- It must work with #Mastodon . While I am aware that other #Fediverse systems (such as #Friendica ) have scheduling options of their own, switching to an entirely different system is a drastic step that I only want to explore when all other options have been exhausted.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

In the bottom left corner of Germany, we are staging a cross-community gathering called "DIFF" during June 7-17th. See our invitation video and blog post. It's probably the best opportunity so far to become part of what is happening behind the scenes ;)

That was the #CRA panel w/ @bagder @tobie @senficon

The audience questions were pretty good, I hope our answers were useful to someone.

There’s a recording here m.youtube.com/watch?v=DLxZdU8k…

Otherwise, head over to the orcwg.org FAQ to contribute/ask or wait for the @EUCommission to publish their guidance, which I’ll surely post about once it is published.

Fondry des Chiens.

Nicknamed the Grand #Canyon of the Ardennes (fear not, it is much, much smaller!) the #fondrydeschiens is a natural formed sinkhole in #Nismes, #Belgium on the border with France.

It is a little marvel of #nature and well worth a detour. Late spring and summer you will find lots of orchids in the pastures nearby. The place is protected as a natural reserve.

If you decide to go there, try to avoid the weekends and holidays since it tends to get crowded.

I Want to Love Linux. It Doesn't Love Me Back

We have a CI job to spot unwanted utf8 letters in #curl PRs as we have noticed that GitHub will gladly show the for example (identical) Cyrillic version of a letter next to the Latin version in a diff and it is yes, entirely impossible for a human to spot the diff. I mean the diff is shown, but the significance of it is not.

Changing just a single letter like that in a URL hostname opens up for a world of grief.

I Want to Love Linux. It Doesn’t Love Me Back

Read this article! I promise this is not another “I’ve tried Linux but it is too hard” post but a very insightful and well-written piece on accessibility across the Linux landscape.

For the first time in years, @charlescasetti and I managed to spend a weekend out of the house, visiting friends in Brighton. We had a couple of very nice ladies from the neighbourhood looking after Vimes—feeding him, playing, and giving him his injections of insulin. We had to explain that he’s nervous around new staff, so they may need to follow him around until he gets to one of his safe spots: my office or the living room…
in reply to Emmanuele Bassi

We got to Brighton, checked into the hotel, and went to dinner; we were a bit apprehensive, but we were enjoying our night out. Around the end, we checked the group chat, where the neighbours unfortunately had to report that Vimes was being a bit uncooperative with the injections, and decided to hide. In the decommissioned gas fireplace in the dining room…

Accessibility is not an optional "feature" in GUI. It is a must. We all should feel responsible to make the GUI accessible. Period!
