As I've mentioned, I've been working with some people to launch Cosocial.ca, a Canadian #Fediverse instance which is a long-term self-supporting sustainable operation based on the member-owned co-operative model.

Hello #Fediverse! #Pinetta is a decentralized FOSS social pinboard in the style of Pinterest. After a month of planning, we've settled on a basic game plan and are opening up our @Codeberg repo for contributions from devs and designers!

What is your opinion regarding "what #Friendicais / should be"?
My view / vision is heading slightly in the direction that nowadays image and video content is quite central in social networks and thus a #Fediverse application like friendica should support the multimedia aspect a bit more, if it wants to be attractive for the broad public in terms of being an alternative to commercial social networks.
Most of you might tell: "Yeah, if one prefers media centric Fediverse, then check out #pixelfed ". But I think, pixelfed is yet too much of an Instagram clone, only providing the image / video focus (which bothered me at Instagram from the very beginning not being able to have good commenting / discussion options there).
In my view, Friendica has great potential becoming a great "one fits all" application for the majority of people who like social media and the concept of the Fediverse. It has way more cool functions than #mastodon / pixelfed (which are in my opinion too close copies of Instagram and Twitter, respectively) but much simpler and convenient than Hubzilla (which I think is really great, for a computer science person, but not for the broad non-technical focussed public)
Wrapping it up: I would love to see a Friendica development towards an easier multimedia support. What are your thoughts?

It's still a fledgling community, but it's geared towards creators who want to share their stuff with the wider #fediverse. We connect to a lot of great instances, have pretty strong community guidelines, and do our best to counter spam and harassment.
Creators are allotted an unlimited amount of upload space for videos!

You can join a group by following the group account. You can post to the group by @-ing the group account, which then reposts that to all its other followers
It is similar to the existing a.gup.pe system, but chirp.social allows a group manager to delete posts and ban people from the group.
It works on all Fediverse platforms including Mastodon.

Folks, I want to boost your lovely posts, I really do but I won’t if you don’t write image descriptions (alt text) so people who use screen readers can also experience them.
It doesn’t take long to write one.
And if you’re posting an image of text and you have an iPhone, you can select the text from the image with a long press and copy/paste it.
Whether you are disabled or not, accessibility is really useful for everyone. Accessibility makes social media easier to use and lets your posts reach a wider audience.

In my view, technology is built to make our lives easier, and in many ways, it isn't these days. It is truly my opinion that the only way #tech can be sustainable is if it's built using #FOSS, and does not give ultimate control to any 1 entity, individual or corporate. If technology is to help the people, it must be built *for* the people.

ALT descriptive text is used by blind and visually impaired people to understand and process photos and images that they otherwise cannot see. So please add ALT to any images you Toot.
Putting an image into words can be a very creative exercise that forces you to look at images more deeply and then convey their content and meaning in words.
Also follow the #ALT4me hashtag. It's used by blind and visually impaired tooters (is that even a word?) to request mutual aid when they encounter an image that does not have ALT.
Hi! Would you consider adding image descriptions to future toots to include people with visual impairments more? For the image in this toot, for example, you could have given a brief description of what the UI actually looks like. The #fediverse is a very inclusive place, and it is among other things the image descriptions that make it that. Thank you for your consideration!
