Like the legend of the phoenix, we're resurrecting Mozilla Send, an end-to-end encrypted file share service, and bringing it under our wings as Thunderbird Send. In this clip from S1E5 of the ThunderCast, developer Chris Aquino gives us a sneak peek of the new - wait, old - er, reborn project!

Learn how #Thunderbird Send will help you overcome your file upload woes, respect your privacy, safeguard against abuse, and hopefully change your #email experience for the better.

Is there any chance someone knows if the automatic resizing/distribution of columns in #Thunderbird 115 wide view can be disabled? I don't need the "Order received" or "Received" columns to be so wide. Is there an about:config trick? @thunderbird

I donated to @thunderbird today. I've been using #Thunderbird for over two decades and it has always been free and open source. Support an e-mail client that doesn't pollute your brain with ads and doesn't sell your data by adding to the community funding:

thunderbird.net/donate

BUT!!! No "share to Mastodon" after the donation?? Really??

#FreeTheInbox

Okay, new @thunderbird version asked me to donate and for the first time I did.
I am using thunderbird since... ever, at least 20? years and donating the price of a good retail software is the least i can do.
Also sharing the special link from the new version, because it looks so much nicer than the normal donation page ^^"
THank you everyone involved :BlobhajHeart:

OMG the latest #Thunderbird update (115).

But finally stumbled across a Reddit post that helped me fix the most objectionable (to me) change:

reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comme…

After the updated, the message list seemed cramped, line height way too small.

This is because the default "density" changed from, I guess, medium to compact?

That setting lives under the "hamburger menu" (three horizontal lines in the upper right)

Changed it back to medium density, breathed a sigh of relief.

And today we have more mock-ups and improvements to share with you!

Read our newest post from Elizabeth about changes coming to the Message Context menu, and give us your feedback on the mailing list:

We're not done with Thunderbird Supernova!

As promised, we will continue to improve the UI and functionality of message threads and Cards view.

We outline the upcoming changes in our Thunderbird UX mailing list here: thunderbird.topicbox.com/group…

A mockup with developer comments is also available from the link.

πŸ’‘ If you have valuable feedback to offer about this, please reply to the mailing list so our developers & community see it!

A question to the #Tech bubble: I would like to use #Thunderbird with a bunch of shared calendars over Caldav. I had this issue two years ago and now here it comes again: Thunderbird becomes very slow as soon as all these calendars are added. They contain plenty of events each, many of them are reoccuring and I have tried both with and without offline support and also disabling autorefresh on some of those. I recall that back when I had the issue last, switching the view to show just one calendar at a time would help but to no avail now. Is this something I have to live with in 2023? ###Mozilla #OpenSource

Quick screenshot of a #thunderbird experiment I'm hacking on, something of a side-project for me.

Looks good on screenshots. No more 90s #netscape look (I know it was a browser) and it seems now it'a usable for me πŸ‘ To the older versions my brain always said no. ... I don't know if I will try it, because my web login works superb. Maybe when my actual #android client #k9mail will be renamed to #thunderbird then I could use it on desktop as well. Let's see.

anyone else out there suddenly got #microsoftTeams as part of their #thunderbird ?

like this (and it actually works):

@mk360 @Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox 115 #supernova is verry #accessible. Loads of #a11y related issues have been adressed since the new face lift has started within #Thunderbird 111.

Oh, this looks nice. I may give it a try again. Hopefully the usability got improved too. In my humble opinion #thunderbird is/was way too messed up/complicated to deal with. Email should be as simple as possible nowadays ... :-)

Folks, have you tried the new Thunderbird 115 Beta 3 and found any access issues? Since this will become the official release in a few weeks, I decided to try it - with NVDA - and found that some controls make it more difficult to move from the folder tree to the message list, or message tree, via Tab/SHIFT+Tab. So any hints re how to hide/remove these controls would be welcome.

Quick FYI 🏁 🏎️

Prior to #GoDaddy killing my #POP #Email client access on June 2 as part of #Microsoft's mandate to force users onto its #Exchange protocol, I switched from #Outlook 2016 to #Thunderbird 114 Beta (which still connects w/ #POP3 + #OAuth2 - unsure if it's a glitch, but it works)

#Thunderbird family: Thank you for the wealth of feedback about our redesigned logo. We listened to it, appreciated it, and took some action.

Your loudest criticism was that our beloved bird looked a bit evil or sinister (LEFT, version 7).

So, in this subtly improved version (RIGHT, version 7.5), we've rotated the eye and tweaked the gradient under the beak to look less harsh.

We think this results in a calmer expression, making the bird look less predatory and more protective.

They really look awesome together, don't they?

This summer, please reorganize your task bars appropriately πŸ˜†

#Firefox #Thunderbird

Now I have to go and rearrange my Firefox and @thunderbird icons on the task bar! They need to be side-by-side.

Is it just me, or does there need to be a huge VS in the middle...

#Firefox #Thunderbird

I like it :) And I also like the "hidden" chat bubble. But... I'd love to retain at least one right-angle on the envelope, perhaps in the top left with the tail going behind it. I think that makes it clearer that the "V" in the middle is from an envelope/email. #thunderbird

Just like our software, the current (and yes, beloved) Thunderbird logo has seen small, iterative improvements throughout the last 20 years. But now the software is evolving into something more modern, and we believe it deserves a fresh logo that properly represents this revitalization.

Introducing the brand new Thunderbird logo, designed by the creator of the original #Firefox and #Thunderbird logos, @jonhicks πŸŽ‰

I'd welcome some testing and feedback.

I would love for #Thunderbird to look like this email client. Is it asking too much? Possible?
