If you are being harassed on this, or any other instance, you have several options of dealing with it. You may block the account yourself, or if you feel this is a greater threat that the community should deal with, you may block and report the post and/or follower via the Mastodon web interface.
As an example on this instance, you would log into the web interface with your email address and passwored used when you signed up at:
someplace.social/
Then, navigate to the offending post or follower,and then you would click the button labeled more, with an elipsis under the post.
This will open a submenu with all the functions to manage what happens to the post or follower. For screen reader users, Mastodon has unhelpfully located this submenu at the bottom of the page, and focus is not automatically set there, so unless or until you realized this, you might think the more... button was doing nothing. It actually is, you just need to navigate to the bottom of the page after you've pressed it. Two of these options in the submenu that comes up are block and report.
Once you click on report, you will get a form to fill out, to let the moderators know about the situation. Additionally, you will have options to report to all remote instances mentioned within any posts marked for the report.
Once the report form is submitted, the moderators of your instance will immediately receive it, and will act on it as soon as possible.

Někdo zde psal, že prý nezáleží, jakou verzi Mastodonu používáte. Ale verze 4.4 přináší docela dost novinek:
📌 **Profil a síť:** Záložka „Featured“ pro hashtagy/účty, karusel připnutých příspěvků, widget s počtem společných sledujících a možnost odstranit followera bez blokace.
📋 **Seznamy:** Snazší správa – přidávání/odebírání účtů do listů přímo z profilů a seznamů sledujících/sledovaných.
🎧 **Média:** Nový audio přehrávač (zkratky: ←→ skok, ↑↓ hlasitost, „m“ ztlumení, „f“ fullscreen), lepší zoom fotek, swipe zavření, ALT text s připomínkou.
📱 **Navigace & onboarding:** Spodní panel na mobilu, „Explore“ → „Trending“, nový layout sidebaru, onboarding zjednodušený na 2 kroky + vyhledávání.
⚙️ **Admin:** Správa podmínek služby, věková hranice, e‑mailová oznámení, interní poznámky moderátorů.

On weekend I managed to connect all my selfhosted services that support it to the #Keycloak #SSO (single sign on).

Why to bother with such complication for apps serving only a couple of users?
First it's quite easy nowadays.
And second, because I want to get rid of passwords and just use #passkeys .
This is one of many examples showing that good apps should just focus on one task and just use standards to cooperate with other apps focusing on other tasks.
Peertube for example focuses on videos, not user management. I am very OK that they don't support passkeys, because they implemented OpenId Connect standard to allow me use Keycloak for better login options.
On the other hand, I am quite sad that SSO is often the one feature, that is proprietary and reserved only for paying customers. SSO is not for huge corporations anymore. It's also usefull for us, selfhosters with couple of users.

Do you post in more than one language?
Mastodon's web interface now automatically detects which language you are posting in and suggests switching to it in the posting language indicator.
For example, if you have your posting language set to English but you start writing in French, the language indicator notices this and starts glowing yellow. Also, French appears at the top of its language list

Nová verze Mastodonu dělá z adresáře profilů mnohem použitelnější záležitost, než tomu bylo doposud.
Místo neustálého načítání stránky s delším a delším krokem je nyní k dispozici postupné načítání přes možnost "Načíst více".
Pokud tedy nahoře nastavíte volby "Nově příchozí" a "Pouze ze zpravobot.news", můžete poměrně elegantně projít celý adresář a vybrat si, který ze zprávobotíků chcete sledovat.
P.S.: Platí pro všechny instance od 4.4.0.

I opened Enafore to check my Mastodon replies. It worked—for a few seconds. Then the notifications started. And they didn’t stop. Ping. Ping. Ping. I couldn’t reply. I could barely move the cursor. I watched the system buckle in real time.
So I tore XP apart.
I disabled over thirty services, deleted Windows File Protection, nuked the prefetch cache, rewrote shutdown behavior, and killed every background process that wasn’t strictly mine. If it touched the network, tried to log something, or ran without permission, it’s dead.
And you know what? Enafore runs fine now. JAWS doesn’t read new posts live, but I don’t care. I can read. I can reply. XP obeys.
Discord, though? Wouldn’t even load in the browser. Just a blank page. So tomorrow, I’m pulling in what channels I can through IRC. It’s not over.

Eagle-eyed product developer @parkerortolani spotted something in Apple's WWDC 2025 presentation: Mastodon. During designer Billy Sorrentino's section on visual intelligence, there's a clear shot of @ivory. "It was clearly both a way to subtly show developers what they can do with their own apps, but also read as a sort of endorsement of Mastodon as a social platform," Ortolani writes on his blog. "Apple didn’t show Bluesky, Threads, or X. They chose to show a third-party Mastodon client."

O vikendu jsem pokracoval ve zkoumani posunu Fediversa a dnes se mi povedlo deploynout Fedi server na lbc.wtf
Ma to hodne ostre hrany, ale v zasade se mi povedlo vsechno, co jsem chtel:
- smazal jsem bariery mezi webem, serverem a clientem.
- read-only pristup bez prihlaseni
- vlastni nalodeni
- podle otazek dostane novy uzivatel defaultni seznam sledovanych (zatim top ceske ucty).

Here's what I was looking for: the Mastodon UX around quote toots.
It looks like:
- it is opt-out rather than opt-in, with a default that everyone can quote your toots.
- if you mention someone, they are always able to quote that toot (i.e. there is no option for "I am never quotable").

As my long-running readers are probably aware, I schedule a _lot_ of posts in advance. I use @bufferapp for this, and I am largely satisfied with this, except for one thing:
They have a fixed character limit of 500 for posts, and thus I cannot make use of the full 10,000 characters of my instance.
This is bad, since most of my scheduled posts are German folk tales exceeding this character limit, and thus I am forced to use screenshots instead of plain texts - which is terrible from an #accessibility point of view (yes, there are readers that can identify the text, but I'd rather use plain text in the first place). So I am looking for alternatives. Here are my requirements:
- It must have a web interface I can use on my desktop PC - I grew up with proper screens and keyboards, and while I _can_ use a smart phone or tablet for complex stuff, I do not find the experience enjoyable.
- It must have a calendar view instead of being a simple, scrollable list - I often schedule posts weeks in advance, and I want to be able to keep track of what is scheduled.
- It must make full use of the character limits of each instance.
- It must allow for scheduling threads - quite a few of the tales I am posting exceed the 10,000 character limit.
- It must work with #Mastodon . While I am aware that other #Fediverse systems (such as #Friendica ) have scheduling options of their own, switching to an entirely different system is a drastic step that I only want to explore when all other options have been exhausted.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

It doesn't even work with the Mastodon WWW user interface, ironically.
The glyphs aren't in the Roboto WWW font requested by #Mastodon so WWW browsers fall back to whatever font is set locally.
Not only does that in itself make posts look like bad movie ransom notes, but it gets worse: because some fonts intentionally try to make the mathematical symbols distinct from truly boldfaced/italic Latin-1 alphabetic characters.
