well, we appreciate Signal trying to make a difference with its public weight ahead of the oct14 chat control vote. Yes, Signal is centralized and running on gafam servers but it also was a key leading effort to make e2ee UX widely available ... and that is fundamentally threatened by #chatcontrol. Federated #xmpp or #email servers do not help against legislation that aims at apps and clients. This is a time to put all of our joint weight against chatcontrol, not gamble for exceptions.
Evaluating EU based email services, and everyone seems to flaws. @startmail has no calendar, @soverin has no ability to try it without fully committing your domain, @mailbox_org gives an error when I try and register, and has no support contact for non customers, @posteo.de doesn’t allow you to use your own domain, and of course @Tutanota is locked in e2ee service meaning I am forced to use their app (same with Proton).
I can’t believe how easy it is to switch to @Tutanota and its excellent apps. I’ve been frustrated by how most alternatives to Apple Mail and Apple Calendar fall short. Welp, the latest @thunderbird update has broken my ability to send work emails (and yes, it's definitely the update that's caused it not anything else - on my work inbox it's giving timeouts on all emails since the update, and I checked by updating it on another computer which triggered the exact same bug).
So I hope they fix that soon or I'll have to find another email client which would be a pain :(

Are any other @thunderbird users seeing the issues that @winterschon wrote about in this post? I've been seeing the high resource usage, just not quite as high (but almost as high). is there any VPS provider more chad than #Contabo ?? arcanechat.me VPS went down today, the VPS will simply fail to start from the Control Panel, this WAY TOO OFTEN happens during weekends or holidays, their status page says nothing about any problems or maintenance, and if you try to write to support they will tell you "sorry it is weekend, your message will not even be stored" so I guess arcanechat.me will be down the whole weekend >
