when you are trying to sleep at night and suddenly remember that #ArcaneChat / #DeltaChat are the only piece of software out there that makes it possible easily and for free to have a #decentralized #e2ee #mailinglist #newsletter (called "channels" inside the app) that is portable, doesn't depend on a specific/central #email server and can be easily migrated to a completely different server / address without any visible change or disturbance for your subscribers

all FREE and without limits 🤯

Looks like @Tutanota wins in the screen reader accessibility department. Both the iOS app and the web version appear to be quite accessible with screen readers. Tested using both VoiceOver and Chromevox… I had no issues navigating the interface with either screen reader. #A11Y #Accessibility #Blind #ScreenReader #Email #Calendar #Contacts

In 2025, the German #BSI launched the Year of #Email #Security recommending Tuta Mail.🇩🇪 ❤️

In 2026, we call for a year on end-to-end encryption in email - so they stop recommending Gmail & Co as well. 🔒

#privacy #security

or... you could use #DeltaChat that makes encrypting #email so easy that even your mom will be sending you encrypted email (even verifed fingerprints safe against MITM) without even realizing it or knowing what is #PGP

why do you say coping?

If in 2026 you make generic claims against the feasibility of using #email and #openpgp for secure decentralized messaging, there hardly is a way around taking a deeper look at RFC9850 and RFC9788 and the minimalist Rust-based approach chatmail.at takes. Hammering away at gpg and other crimes of how email-encryption doesnt work well ... frankly does not cut it for making a generic "it can not work" claim. See also chaos.social/@delta/1157966260…

Relax 😎! GPG is not OpenPGP!

Yesterday, vulnerabilities were published gpg.fail but they don't affect #deltachat or other #chatmail clients because

A) We never used #gnupg for anything; we use the modern #rustlang #openpgp implementation @rpgp, security audited multiple times.

B) #openpgp is fine, as modernized in #RFC9580, which already warns against several #gpgfail issues (gpg didn't implement that spec)

Please spread the word that #gpg is not #openpgp ... Thanks! #39c3

#Blind #Linux #Accessibility / #a11y folks, I need a #ScreenReader #accessible #email client that supports calendar and contacts integration with #Outlook and #GoogleWorkspace. Thunderbird is out because I cannot find reliable instructions on connecting it to my Outlook contacts. Anyone who suggests that I should either switch back to Windows or use my phone for email will be playfully booped over the head with a pool noodle. Kidding. Seriously though, recommendations welcome. Thanks. #BlindMasto #BlindMastodon #BlindFedi #MailClient #EmailClient

Anyone got any recommendations for non-spyware #email providers whose webmail/account management doesn't fucking suck with a #screenreader? Happy to pay for it. More details in replies.

(for future readers: this table is wrong, #DeltaChat doesn't require phone numbers or #email for registration can be used anonymously without providing any data at all, for #telegram encryption is not supported in groups at all, only in 1-to-1 chats using the "secrets chat" which don't even sync across devices so is highly impractical and not much used by people in the end)

Lately I’ve been realizing that I probably made a (small but important) mistake when choosing Proton Mail over @Tutanota Mail.

I truly respect and like both European companies, but what I’ve been noticing, and deeply appreciating, is how strong, healthy, and direct the relationship between Tuta and its users is. They communicate, they discuss, they listen.

It actually reminds me a lot of the @Vivaldi browser team, including @jon himself. And that kind of attitude is priceless, especially when it’s combined with such a clear stance on privacy & security, AI, and user-first values. That combination is simply top-tier.

I recently noticed Vivaldi starting some cooperation with Proton. Personally, I’d much rather see a collaboration with Tuta.

Rooting for you. Rooting for both teams (actually all three). Absolutely fantastic work.

I've recently returned to using Mutt to manage most of my incoming mail, especially the various mailing lists to which I subscribe. Major reasons for this include (1) its comprehensive set of keyboard commands; (2) the option to control sort order in detail, including threads (in my case, oldest message first); (3) focus handling, e.g., placed automatically on the first unread message; and (4) support for using your preferred text editor to write messages. The main disadvantage is that HTML messages aren't presented as well as they would be in a client based on a Web browser engine. However, most of the HTML-only messages I receive are advertising anyway, i.e., the lowest priority mail that I often don't read.

> My question is rather: How can #XMPP market itself better to people who want to build instant messaging solutions.

my humble opinion: I would still pick #deltachat / chatmail core to build my client if I had to start from scratch today, with #xmpp I just have a protocol, with delta chat I don't actually need to use the #email protocol at all, only the core library that takes care of dealing with networking and #encryption while all I have to do is to create the UI

well it depends on the context, I am Cuban, that Delta Chat used email was the whole point I started using it and contributing, besides cheaper data plan for national email, you see down there in the 3rd world on an unstable 2g connection at 1kb/s #email, asynchronity and offline-first comes on top of #xmpp which together with #Telegram really struggles to even get connected, in a fast hyperconnected 1st world this might be less relevant until some emergency times or in isolated areas

So what is everyone using to *parse* emails in PHP?

I don't want to send emails! I am receiving emails and need to parse them. Ideally I'd get a Symfony\Component\Mime\Message back...

Is there already something? Preferrably without too many unnecessary dependencies (looking at you, Carbon et al)...

Or do I need to write something?

Hotmail —> Yahoo —> Gmail —> ?????

Gmail has been my main email since like 2008. Clearly it’s time for that to change. Anyone have any email recommendations for this next life stage of the internet, something not poisoned by fascism, data theft, and AI? 🧐

Hallo.

Sending mail from residential ip be like:

It's easily solvable using a "free" SMTP relay. But the privacy benefits of self-hosting are lost.

I'm using smtp2go to deliver to outlook and gmail. I have no idea if smtp2go is good or no. Do you have any recommendation?

@TheDailyBurble, happy to help.

Another cool feature of #XMPP are "gateways" that make it relatively easy to connect with other IMs.
e.g.
#Libervia to #ActivityPub and #email (CC @Goffi )

nlnet.nl/project/Libervia
libervia.org

#Slidge to all sorts of other IM like #Matrix, #Mattermost, #Steam, #Discord, #Whatsapp, FB … (CC @nicoco )

slidge.im

@pedrosanta @bagder @matrix

* Sent
* Sent Items
* Gesendet

I can’t believe how easy it is to switch to @Tutanota and its excellent apps. I’ve been frustrated by how most alternatives to Apple Mail and Apple Calendar fall short. But Tuta Mail and Calendar work so well — including with my own domains. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #email #calendar #ios #macos #apple #EUAlternatives

🔐 Tuta Mail introduces key verification to strengthen end-to-end encryption and defend against MITM attacks 👥
Users can now verify contacts’ public keys via QR code or manual comparison.
If skipped, Tuta defaults to TOFU (Trust On First Use) for seamless encryption 🧩

Update verfügbar: #58 - Deine #Mails, dein digitales Zuhause
