Help wanted, please!
If you have *first hand experience* of improving the diversity of a governance board of (currently all men) volunteers, I'd love to hear how you went about it, or resources which helped you, please.
What did you find helped make the role more attractive to a wider range of applicants to join?
(This is in the context of a Free software project, but broader contexts are welcome.)
Updates from the Nepalese LibreOffice community: Recent protests and stress in Nepal have disrupted regular activities. Almost everything was affected, including in-person events being canceled rapidly.Mike Saunders (The Document Foundation)

My Hero of the Day is @valadaptive@github.com, who came out of nowhere and, just like that, deleted 11K lines of FontForge legacy code.
After the initial shock and dismay, the rather conservative board eventually agreed, and today her PR was merged 🚀

Itching to try GNOME 49 today? Developers and curious testers can try GNOME OS in a virtual machine or bare metal:
Just remember that GNOME OS itself is considered pre-release software; bad things may happen if you use it in production. Happy testing!

💡 Governments play a crucial role to support the #DigitalCommons.
@ChristopherWilson (from @MyDataglobal) highlights their vital role and emphasises that the design challenge is also a key consideration.
Let’s build systems that serve people, not platforms.

Fingerprint reader functionality under #Linux sucks.
1. Every few reboots/updates/whatever-triggers it, the fingerprint functionality GETS DISABLED all by itself. The bug is there in BOTH Ubuntu and Arch Linux ( #gnome ).
2. GDM won't let me choose between pass & fingerprint reading. This has repercussions for gnome's keyring.
3. Because the keyring is not unlocked, launching things like Chrome requires you to type a password! Again!
Overall, abysmal.
Zdeněk Crhonek (aka “raal”) from the Czech LibreOffice community writes: The Czech translation of the LibreOffice Calc Guide 25.2 is now available, thanks to the endless efforts of our team. It was translated by Petr Kuběj, Radomír Strnad and me.Mike Saunders (The Document Foundation)

Libervia CLI tip 6:
Most commands have an `-O, --output` option to format the output. By default, the output is pretty formatted for humans, but you can output in JSON, XML, or other formats.
With `template` output you can use Jinja templates, either built-in ones (the ones used in the web frontend), or your own; useful to build static HTML pages/sites, or reformat the data the way you want.
Use `--help` to see available outputs
I have been pushing for #Inkscape to remove/decommission it's Twitter account. But I didn't want to do it unilaterally, bossing people about, but through reasoned policy that can be applied to other captured banana-pants social media platforms.
So I've drafted a policy, which I'm interested in having more people look at as it's going to be one of those gnarly things that's important to get right:

The #Google playstore bias against #FOSS apps should end, @daniel. I'm so sorry you face this.
Never would software freedom activists like myself, in 2005, imagined that 20 years later the most common computers that most users have would forbid users from installing FOSS, *AND* impede small FOSS businesses from operating boutique shops that provide useful FOSS apps to their users.
The computing world quickly slouches toward dystopia.
CoMaps is now on IzzyOnDroid!
IzzyOnDroid is an Android store for Free & Open Source Software. The apps are free (as in „free beer“ and as in „free speech“) and Open Source.
Builds for IzzyOnDroid are directly from developers and signed by developers. This enables very fast publishing (whereas F-Droid re-builds apps from source).
There are several ways to install and update CoMaps via IzzyOnDroid:
