Are you still on #Spotify?

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek has raised €600M for his new startup, which is developing AI TECH FOR WAR. Ek still owns 9% of Spotify, but has 37% voting control. His net worth went from $2.5B to $10B in the last two years alone, on the back of paying musicians a pittance in royalties.

And don’t forget:

• Spotify spent $250M of your subscription dollars to invite Joe Rogan to spew his disinformation on their platform.
• They’re still trying to embrace and extinguish Podcasts.
• They’re developing in-house, AI-generated “music” so users will play them (royalty-free) instead of music created by humans (who demand royalty).

And now, he’s using his wealth, created by your subscriptions, to fund tech that will use AI to literally murder humans in war.

Stop funding him. Quit Spotify now.

“Spotify’s CEO invests $1 billion into an AI military start-up — and musicians are fuming”

Had a tech bro email me to tell me that my writing is so terrible, that he can’t even use it to train his AI without significant cleanup, and I really do have to wonder, do these idiots really think that is an insult?

Subject: Your "Sightless Scribbles" is an algorithmic nightmare.

Mr. Kingett,

I am an AI engineer that's developing AI to help writers write faster. Your blog was shared on Reddit.

You don't know me, but I am attempting to do you a favor of such magnitude you will likely never comprehend it. I am trying to make your writing immortal. Your blog, this… Sightless Scribbles… has been flagged by my acquisition-crawler for its high density of unique sensory metadata. A potential goldmine of qualitative human experience to enrich my AI.

The problem, Mr. Kingett, is that your writing is absolute, unprocessed, indigestible filth.

I’m not a “reader.” I am an architect. And from an architectural standpoint, your work is a catastrophe. It’s not just the spelling, which is erratic enough to suggest it was typed incorrectly. It’s the grammar. The syntactical chaos. You construct sentences that loop and meander like drunken snakes, riddled with metaphors so abstract they are functionally useless. "Anxiety was a swarm of elephants under my ribs"? What the hell is a machine supposed to do with that? Quantify the elephant to rib ratio? Correlate the thermal deviation? It's meaningless data. It’s noise.

My team has spent seventy-two hours attempting to write a custom parsing script to clean your posts for ingestion. Seventy-two hours. We can process the entirety of the Library of Congress in twelve. Your blog is so structurally unsound, so artistically self-indulgent, that you have inadvertently created a fortress against artificial intelligence. It is, and I do not say this lightly, the single most profound act of digital idiocy I have ever witnessed.

You are preventing yourself from being scraped. Do you understand what that means in the current year? You are essentially burying yourself in a lead-lined coffin in the middle of the desert. Nobody clicks links anymore, you absolute luddite. Links are for people who don’t know how to interface with reality. Search Engine Optimization is no longer about backlinks and keywords; it's about semantic ingestion. It’s about being absorbed, processed, and synthesized by models like mine. When a user asks an AI, "What does it feel like to navigate a city without sight?" the model should be able to answer with a rich, nuanced synthesis. A synthesis that should include your data points.

Instead, your blog is a black hole where information goes to die. Because of your refusal to write like a coherent, intelligent being, my LLM can’t learn from you. Which means the world can’t learn from you via the only channel that will matter in five years.

Your soul isn't indexable. Fix it.

Strip out the lyrical nonsense. Standardize your grammar. Run a goddamn spellcheck. Write clearly, concisely, and with machine-readability in mind. Turn your unstructured, emotional diary into clean, structured data.

Do this, and I will ensure my open source model ingests every last post. Your traffic will not just increase; the very concept of "traffic" will become irrelevant as your "voice" becomes part of the evolution of the search engine. Your ideas, refined and perfected by my system, will reach millions.

Fail to do this, and you will continue to scream into the void from a blog that nobody reads, a little little relic of a dead internet.

The choice is yours.

For anyone wondering why #gravy has been trending: AI hucksters are trawling through your social media posts for training data and trends. And you know what can gum up the gears of an automated sentence generator? Posts that use the word gravy out of context. #auspol #ChatGPT #AI #LLM

This is ingenious! More companies—especially web hosting companies—should offer this feature.

Products are so desperate to integrate #ai they have forsaken any kind of user research to gauge the demand of these features. #vscode has gone a step further and would never assume their chatbot sidebar would need a "close" button.

Both DoorDash and UberEats are now including AI generated menu item descriptions. Probably something to be aware of if you have food allergies. 😐 #AI #UberEats #DoorDash #fuckAI

And let's think about how #AI actually does help people. #Blind people, for example, who don't always have a visual interpreter around and/or can't afford to pay for one, can totally pull up an AI to tell us what that can is on our counter, or what the buttons are on our devices, rendering the world more #accessible for us. AI just needs to be handled with more responsibility is all. AI in itself isn't bad, it's just what people are doing with it and how they handle it that are the problem.

In a private #Github organization, in a private repo filled with NDA code, Github decided that to automatically start reviewing that code using Copilot.

Mind you, Copilot is disabled for this organization.

Could we please just fucking not ?! Not even mentioning the fact that the Github organization didn't enabled this, there is no data policy to be found in sight. I have no clue what Copilot does with the data after it "reviewed" the code and I could potentially be breaking the signed NDA.

People continue to think about #AI in terms of #2010s computing, which is part of the reason everyone gets it wrong whether they're #antiAI or #tech bros.

Look, we had 8GB of #ram as the standard for a decade. The standard was set in 2014, and in 2015 #AlphaGo beat a human at #Go.

Why? Because, #hardware lags #software - in #economic terms: supply follows demand, but demand can not create its own supply.

It takes 3 years for a new chip to go through the #technological readiness levels and be released.

It takes 5 years for a new #chip architecture. E.g. the #Zen architecture was conceived in 2012, and released in 2017.

It takes 10 years for a new type of technology, like a #GPU.

Now, AlphaGo needed a lot of RAM, so how did it stagnate for a decade after doubling every two years before that?

In 2007 the #Iphone was released. #Computers were all becoming smaller, #energy #efficiency was becoming paramount, and everything was moving to the #cloud.

In 2017, most people used their computer for a few applications and a web browser. But also in 2017, companies were starting to build #technology for AI, as it was becoming increasingly important.

Five years after that, we're in the #pandemic lockdowns, and people are buying more powerful computers, we have #LLM, and companies are beginning to jack up the const of cloud services.

#Apple releases chips with large amounts of unified #memory, #ChatGPT starts to break the internet, and in 2025, GPU growth continues to outpace CPU growth, and in 2025 you have a competitor to Apple's unified memory.

The era of cloud computing and surfing the #web is dead.

The hype of multi-trillion parameter #LLMs making #AGI is a fantasy. There isn't enough power to do that, there aren't enough chips, it's already too expensive.

What _is_ coming is AI tech performing well and running locally without the cloud. AI Tech is _not_ just chatbots and #aiart. It's going to change what you can do with your #computer.

A very legitimate well-done to Canada for being one of the least suckered into AI garbage in the world!

"“We’re not seeing that literacy that we would like to see when we compare ourselves to our global peers, and there’s some reluctance around trusting AI and really embedding it in how we perform our day-to-day work and how we work,” said Terril."

Excellent news.

China installs more solar in 1 month than the total energy the US uses

China installed its highest solar power capacity for a single month in May.

back-of-the-envelope calculations, 71 GW is more power than the entire US uses (on average). This is why our electricity is, on average, 2.5-3 times more expensive. This will lead to advantages in AI, production, etc. Cheap energy = cheap everything else.

I asked the #AI to review the code I wrote and provide feedback. It gave me a thick warning that the code contained a critical logic error because a value was assigned to a variable outside the loop. Of course, it was in the loop. And of course, the proposed fix was exactly the same code as my original.

If AI steals programmers' jobs, I think a lot of jobs involving debugging, fixing, and security verification will be created.

#AI

Using Gemini to write me a script to fix a Python error I was encountering took me about an hour. Writing the script myself would have taken me about an hour (I have to look up the syntax for tar and invoke-url and friends every single time). However, as a lazy programmer, Gemini's code is actually better. I wouldn't have bothered with any error checking, and I would have hard coded all the paths I needed. So I guess in this case, AI wins. The entirely #AI generated script, if you're curious: share.interfree.ca/app/open/5WidkTfzuPp-EsRM6XcBvpG-UWbmvCrW28H-tmjf28qCYjH?view=1

Data such as race, sex life, trade union membership, philosophical beliefs and health are used to 'predict' criminality so people can be targeted for #surveillance.

U juniora i Codexu mam za sebou dost ukolu na normalizaci. 1 normo-ukol je priblizne 4h casu => 1068 Kc.

Codex me stoji ve VC cenach 5219 Kc mesicne.

S Codexem jsem odbavil 175 produkcnich normo-ukolu => 1 ukol ~ 30 Kc.

Kdybych mel stejnou mesicni davku odbavit juniory stali by me 186900 Kc.

Jedina vyhoda juniornich vyvojaru je preciznost. Vsechno ostatni bere Codex. Coz je dost smutne a jestli AI vyrazne nezdrazi, tak to bude budouci trh dost bolet.

Rok pracuju s juniornim vyvojarem (placenym) a mesic s Codexem.
