and here I was happily emailing people on #Thunderbird and making designs on #Penpot and #Inkscape to share via #XMPP, at which point I remembered to catch up on discussions on #Loomio, and got roped into drafting a manifesto on #Cryptpad, all while blissfully unaware of the chaos going on until I opened #Newsflash and read about it all on the #RSS feeds that I synchronise via #NextCloud, at which point I decided to head over to talk about it with the world thanks to #ActivityPub!

The… cool people… at @thunderbird have released a new feature called "Account Hub". It works exactly with Outlook.com and Google Mail and crashes on any self-hosted mail server 🤦.

Do they even test their crap with independent systems? OIDC support being limited to Google and a handful others in code was one thing, but how does a feature that simply breaks all mail accounts but GAFAM make it into a release?

Is it just me or are IMAP subfolders broken in @k9mail and @thunderbird since 12.0?
Just tried Thunderbird as well and I can't download any emails in subfolders. (12.0+12.1)

Used to work fine 11.1.

Is there some switch one needs to flip?

💬 WECHSEL von #K9mail auf @thunderbird

UPDATE:

@thunderbird bug?
a team of people manages eg. team@domain #email .
they all use #thunderbird (on #linux) .
drafts stored by some team member, and then sent by another team member, doesn't show thread as replied..

sounds like a known bug? or something else to look into?

Hey #thunderbird users, how do I set the default calendar when creating new events? I don’t find an option for that and internet search sadly didn’t help either

My pet peeve in @thunderbird: I often want to save attachments, but then also look at them. I’d love to have an accessible way to open the attachment I just saved, like in #Firefox’s download menu or the popup Element offers. Currently, I need to navigate the whole path twice, once in #Thunderbird’s save dialog, and then again in my file manager.

#tfw you discover a bug in @thunderbird beta which is impacting you on the regular, and you go to file a bug report about it, and you put a substantial amount of time into testing the bug in various contexts to ensure you are providing useful information for the developers, and then the last thing you do is attempt to bisect the bug with #mozregression, and you discover that it's been fixed in the current nightly build but the fix hasn't been uplifted to beta yet. *sigh*

As if I didn't already know it, #Microsoft customer support has proven to be useless. I requested an export of my #Outlook (.com, not the desktop app) email account over a week ago. The page said it'll take up to four days. I contact support and they tell me that exporting online isn't supported. Why offer it then‽

So I downloaded #Thunderbird, connected to my account and have synced my inbox. Currently exporting it using an add-on.

Next job after that is to import it to my new @Tutanota inbox, then cancel my Outlook subscription.

In my laptop #Thunderbird, I have logged in my email accounts. I want to export them to my Android phone. The export QR is not getting scanned by the Thunderbird app (downloaded from F-Droid).

Is anyone else encountering this issue? Can I export using a file rather than QR code?

Dear @thunderbird people ... when viewing my email, I want to be able to hover over a link (1) to figure out if it's obviously dodgy .... please can you make the real url appear in a large font - perhaps as an on hover bubble or something - rather than putting it in small text in the bottom of the window (2) where various other status updates go (and overwrite it), making it hard to see.

The latest version of Thunderbird for Android has a contrast issue: the difference in colour between read and unread messages is too small. Even with healthy eyes, it's hardly noticeable.
