Hi there,
some questions about the behavior of friendica with respect of preserving the content of posts from other servers and other #fediVerse platforms.

There are several options in #friendica to mark posts. There is staring a post or an answer, there is interacting with it like giving a thumbs up or done (like\dislike) and answering, saving to a folder and sharing or resharing a post. Answers can't be stared but saved to a folder, shared and reshared.

What happens when a post or an answer is deleted y the owner of that post or answer?
There are posts from other instances that still are preserved over here even tho they don't exist anymore on the originating server.
What happens if answers are deleted by the owner of the answer? Also, somehow answers to answers are related and they do disappear at least when an answer is deleted locally on this server. Is the same true if an answer is deleted by the originating profile?

Also, have there been changes on the behavior on these aspects in friendica or are their discussion about changing some of those aspects?

How to reply to a post on Fedi:

1. Begin writing a sassy reply, but start to worry that it will be misunderstood.
2. Discard reply without posting.
3. Start writing a sincere reply. Continue until you have written a 5000 character, multi paragraph screed.
4. Discard without posting.
5. Start a new reply where you try to phrase your screed as succinctly as possible.
5. Give up and discard without posting.
6. Just click the star button on the post instead ⭐

Defaults in software are powerful. Most defaults are never changed, even if there's a control right there in the Settings. Unless there's a very unusual exception to test the rule, whatever is set by default will shape the way people do things.

So I'll say it again, defaults are powerful.

When I want to make an external link to a post, first I click on the post and I get something that looks like

Which might not work. But if I take /deck out

@screwlisp @Jerry on Friendica I managed to get it working. I'm really not sure what changed, but I think that @hairylarry following me first made a difference for some reason.

I got out time ago and found, from a #Fediverse tip, codeberg.org/ to use instead of GitHub for my Open Source ideas.

The simplicity UI delivered #bliss

Maybe if you very explicitly only count #Mastodon instances, but if you mean the #Fediverse instances, you're quite incorrect. The Fediverse hosts a very wide array of opinions, though I would not be surprised if your instance has a sizable blocklist which makes you feel like this is not the case. Hugboxes are quite dangerous, yet some fedi admins, especially Mastodon ones, seem hellbent on ensuring they never ever hear any opinion they disagree with. If you feel like the Fediverse hosts only a particular viewpoint, I would highly suggest joining a better instance.

I dislike the idea of them federating here, too. The people that come to the #Fediverse do so because they dislike the proprietary platforms and their tactics of manipulation for profit. Getting them here would only lower the quality of discourse on the Fediverse.

This seems like a weak argument. Any instance I might show you, you can just add to any blocklist at that moment just to ensure you're always right. Besides, getting blocked by incompetent power-hungry #Mastodon admins requires no bad intent on the blockee's part, so it holds no meaning to be blocked in itself.

I know my instance is blocked by a few dozen other instances, but that doesn't mean my instance is unusable. On the contrary, the instances that don't block me value free and open discussion of any idea, which means that my experience of the Fediverse is much more wide in opinion than yours can ever be.
