Would be fair to have the calendar component also have a quickstart-entry in the launcher's context menu, @thunderbird , what d'you think?

Remember a few weeks back when I said no one appreciates people that file bugs. Well as we tiptoe closer to the #Thunderbird for #Android release, I look at the visionary that filed the initial bug bringing up the idea 12 years ago when most people floating around #Mozilla wanted a #WindowsPhone version to run on #PDAs. That youn... old hero won't get any credit or acknowledgement, but to someone, somewhere, they matter!

Read all about our exciting story and get a sneak peak at the next chapter with @ryanleesipes , Product and Business Development Manager for Thunderbird, who just celebrated his 6th work anniversary! 🎉

Ryan takes us from 2012, when Thunderbird was transitioned to community support, to plans for long, bright future. You'll laugh, cry, and cheer as you read - and maybe even help us bring Thunderbird and e-mail privacy everywhere! 💙

Like the legend of the phoenix, we're resurrecting Mozilla Send, an end-to-end encrypted file share service, and bringing it under our wings as Thunderbird Send. In this clip from S1E5 of the ThunderCast, developer Chris Aquino gives us a sneak peek of the new - wait, old - er, reborn project!

Learn how #Thunderbird Send will help you overcome your file upload woes, respect your privacy, safeguard against abuse, and hopefully change your #email experience for the better.

A question to the #Tech bubble: I would like to use #Thunderbird with a bunch of shared calendars over Caldav. I had this issue two years ago and now here it comes again: Thunderbird becomes very slow as soon as all these calendars are added. They contain plenty of events each, many of them are reoccuring and I have tried both with and without offline support and also disabling autorefresh on some of those. I recall that back when I had the issue last, switching the view to show just one calendar at a time would help but to no avail now. Is this something I have to live with in 2023? ###Mozilla #OpenSource

Mozilla: "In a well-intentioned yet dangerous move to fight online fraud, France is on the verge of forcing browsers to create a dystopian technical capability. It would force browser providers to create the means to mandatorily block websites present on a government provided list. Such a move will overturn decades of established content moderation norms and provide a playbook for authoritarian governments"

@thunderbird, I'm enjoying the updated Thunderbird 112 Beta UI, but I was wondering if you could give us the option to disable the tab area and/or the new top menubar depending on how we configure our UI. If I choose to use the left-most vertical menubar, the other areas seem redundant and take up space. Otherwise, I like the new direction! 👍

In fact, I learnt a lot about how #Thunderbird and @mozilla are actually related, and I always thought it's a hardwired #Mozilla product just like #Firefox.

I'm really looking forward to the improvements in Supernova and also future updates to #K9Mail. I used to be a #GMail user but ran into performance problems on older devices and under bad networking conditions. Not a problem for good old #IMAP! :)

Who's checking out #MozFest next week? We'll be in virtual attendance, and this is one of the talks we're excited about (for obvious reasons):

▶️ Dialogues & Debates: Making the Fediverse | Mozilla is joining the Fediverse in 2023 to co-create its future. What are its greatest opportunities and limitations? How can we scale methodology and not solutions? What is the public discourse square of the future? Who is building it?

Nice! Always great to see native elements being improved.

Firefox Sync is awesome and I use it all the time. It'd be awesome if #Mozilla would make it easier to have a self-hosted option for this too. I know it *can* be done (I played with it a bit) but it was very hard to get going and I eventually had to give up.

Here's a very early implementation of #Firefox Sync running in Thunderbird Daily!

The bones are there and the foundation is solid.

Though it may be called something else by the time we launch it in Thunderbird 115 (such as Thunderbird Sync or #Mozilla Sync), it's a feature we're THRILLED about putting in your hands.

I’m not going to use bloody bugzilla, so if anyone from Mozilla sees this, your enterprise flow for adding certificate authorities (CAs) to Firefox on Linux fails on Fedora Silverblue.

Since Fedora Silverblue is seen as the possible future of Fedora/Red Hat, you folks might want to talk to the Fedora folks about it and come up with a solution.

#Mozilla is creating a fediverse instance. What is Mozilla?

• A “not-for-profit” that owns multiple for-profit businesses and pays its CEO $5.6M
• Gets ~83% of its revenue (~$500,000,000) every year from surveillance capitalist Google
• Makes a browser that protects your privacy (*some configuration required)
• Is now a VC…

This is the best we can expect from Silicon Valley/capitalism. Question is: can we do better than that?
