I have a serious question. Will LibreOffice ever be a product with batteries included regarding grammar and spell check on a high level? I know that we have a very good spell checking, but I was wondering if there's ever something planned to have a really working grammar and style checking tool like languagetool out of the box.

In February 2024, I was in a car crash. My nerves from my spine to my hand were damaged.

#OpenSource and #Embroidery helped me imagine a more resilient future:

sfconservancy.org/blog/2025/ja…

I wanted to give back to the #FreeSoftware community, and the Conservancy staff and contractors who supported me. So I made an embroidery of Conservancy's logo for our fundraiser.

The top donor to Conservancy's fundraiser (from Monday, Jan 6 until AOE Wednesday, Jan 8) will receive my embroidery.

Please donate today:

sfconservancy.org/sustainer/

If you can only afford to give a little, we appreciate any support you can give!

If the top donor doesn't want the embroidery, a random donor to Conservancy's fundraiser will receive the embroidery. The random donor will be picked from anyone who donated from the start of Conservancy's fundraiser in November until AOE Wednesday, January 8.

If my journey inspires you, please donate to Conservancy's fundraiser:

We are heading towards completion of another milestone 😃

Thanks to @VishnuSanal, #Prav is on Google Play Store now. It requires a 2-week testing period before being open to public downloads. Right now, only authorized testers can test it.

If you are interested in testing, please share your Gmail address with us.

On the other hand, the app is free to download from #Fdroid. Please remember that the service is still in public beta.

Stay tuned!

@IzzyOnDroid @SylvieLorxu I would be happy to see your repo become #FreeSoftware! As you well know, F-Droid only endorses verifiable free software projects.

It is also great to see all your work on #ReproducibleBuilds. We are continuing to build upon our years of effort there. Our approach is focused on identifying issues and getting things fixed upstream as much as possible. Then devs do not need to use any special tools to achieve reproducible builds.

We're starting a sprint to look at all the issues preventing #ReproducibleBuilds in all the apps we ship. Most of the issues are simple fixes in the upstream code, like unsorted outputs or timestamps included in the build.
You can help make the #FreeSoftware #Android ecosystem be more reproducible! See the failures here and help us report them upstream: verification.f-droid.org/faile…

The 2022 tech layoffs were 70% women. BIPOC, queer, and disabled workers were also terminated at higher rates.

While we can't prevent corporate layoffs, we can ensure the future of the free and open source community is more diverse and inclusive. Outreachy and Conservancy are vital to that future.

@outreachy connects people who face discrimination and systemic bias to internships in free and open source software. @conservancy staff and contractors run Outreachy.

Outreachy corporate sponsorships and grants have been drastically reduced since 2022. This means Outreachy can't offer as many internships to people who face discrimination and systemic bias in tech. Outreachy's normal 60 to 70 intern cohorts have been reduced to 25 to 35 interns.

Please consider donating to the Conservancy fundraiser, in support of Outreachy and the diverse and inclusive future FOSS needs:

Last time we raised funds to add offline messaging support to #bifrost bridge, which connects #matrix and #xmpp. Now we need to raise some funds again to adapt the bridge to support recent changes in how media is shared in matrix. Please contribute opencollective.com/bifrost-med… #FreeSoftware Once we have some funds, we hope this will motivate someone to fix the bridge. You can also join xmpp:bifrost-mam@groups.podder… if you like to help.

#introduction

As I just joined social.coop, it may be a good time to re-introduce myself.

I studied architecture and organization development, and work now at tangente.coop supporting community-led and non-speculative #cooperative #cohousing projects in #Spain.

Also experienced in sustainable and people-centered urban develoment, and urban #cycling #mobility.

I love and support #FLOSS #freesoftware, digital autonomy and libre culture in general.
